25 Jun 02 - 07:52 PM (#736947) Subject: RE: Marais and Miranda - encore on WFDU From: BH I am glad that Ron gave the time---it might be hard to listen for 3 hrs. His modesty prevents him from also saying that he is the major force in putting all the things together---I am merely the "interlocutor" in this. But the final thing is a tribute to them and their contribution to "folk music". And, for those of you who have heard it--you knw--some of the participants are fascinating---in addition to the honorees---Marais and Miranda. Bill Hahn |

01 Jul 02 - 11:56 AM (#740131) Subject: RE: Marais and Miranda - encore on WFDU From: Don Firth #@!%&!+@#!!!!! I have Windows Media Player, Real Player, and a couple of others, and I STILL couldn't get the program. I got it a couple of months ago (unfortunately not the Marias and Miranda program)--why not this time? All it did, no matter what I clicked on, was to try to download something that kept downloading forever and wouldn't finish. After about forty-five minutes of messing with it, I gave up. Don Firth

09 Jun 13 - 05:31 PM (#3524558) Subject: RE: Marais and Miranda - encore on WFDU From: GUEST,deakle Well... This is an old thread, but I can't help adding to it. I know the song as Old Auntie Cathy from grade school in California in the '50's. Marais and Miranda were popular at that time and their records were frequently played in the classroom. The verse I remember is: Old Auntie Cathy she liked to bake, But I don't think I want to eat her cake, She doesn't use flour, she doesn't use dough, And what she uses I really don't know. "Tisn't my affair, 'tisn't your affair...etc. The other verse--which sent me to the internet because I was singing the song this morning and couldn't finish it-- started: Old Auntie Cathy she likes to walk Her feet take up the whole sidewalk... It's interesting to me that there are so many verses given here, but neither of these shows up. It was definitely a Marais and Miranda recording we were listening to. |
