04 Jul 02 - 09:34 AM (#742161) Subject: Music Special Tonight From: Mickey191 Tonight at 8:00pm (EST) there will be a 3 hour special on music in America. Peter Jennings is hosting a salute to our diverse musical heritage. If we keep our fingers crossed, they may repeat the great blue grass segment from Appalachia, which was shown last night. ABC tv. |

Yeah, Don, I was gonna 'rib' Peter about that in the Forum, but ya beat me to it. I imagine he and the crew broke up a bit as soon as he was off camera! That's live TV for ya! I enjoyed what I saw of the ABC special--especially Arlo singing a duet with Woody. Gillian Welch was great, too. And with the Brooks & Dunn song they ended with, they didn't need what's-his-name's song (Toby Keith, was it?) as a tribute to the 9-11 victims and heroes. What I saw of the PBS party was pretty much like it always is, and songs like Charlie Daniels's "The Last Fallen Hero" (cf. the thread about Charile) really WOULDN'T have fit the mood of the party.
