BS: Thanks someone - was it a Mudcatter?

A couple of weeks ago I got a card from a radio station in Richmond Virginia, asking for a copy of my CD. Only about a dozen people in the US have ever heard of me - let alone got my address. The finger of suspicion is pointing at Mudcatters for having done me this favour. It was WDCE the "All-Most Folk " programme (Mon-Fri 7-9am). This has not been a good year for me and this piece of news has cheered me up considerably. Thanks very much to whoever it was that passed on my address. Alan.

Alan, like my sister, bet, I'd love to take credit, but it wasn't me, either. Does sound like a Mudcatter kind of thing, though, doesn't it?

While you're at it, may we have info on how to purchase our own copies of your CD?

With all good wishes for a better year,

kat

If you are interested in the CD, you can listen to a few tracks on my website at:www.alan.free-pop.com If you like what you hear, you can order it from there as my e-mail address is there. I will have to add on a couple of extra Euros for the postage as it costs a fortune to send packages to the USA! The album has not been released in the USA. I am hoping that if I can pick up a few radio plays, I may be able to get a small deal over there. I have not yet signed any publishing deal, so although I have a label over here, I am still a free agent. I had a good review from Will Manus in California and the Virginia based critic Ken Roseman said some nice things about it too. Maybe it was him! It would be great to play to an English speaking audience if anything does get moving. Thanks everyone for your good wishes and kind words.

This thread gives me a guilty reminder that Alanabit sent me a CD the other day and I havent returned the compliment.
So first, I publicly apologise.
Secondly, I'll get down to the post office right away.
.Thirdly, his CD is totally excellent, especially the song "Johnny Petto"

Alan, I like the songs, especially Continental Flair and Jack the Stripper. Veddy clever posh accents, what?

Just seems to happen when you are singing, dosn't it? I hope I am not like either of those characters - I certainly don't talk like that! I was born with no acting talent whatsoever (they established that on my drama course during my college days), but it seems so easy to pretend to be someone else when you are doing one of those character songs. Does this happen to everyone?

Well, I'm from Richmond but unfortunately it wasn't me - I must confess I didn't know about that radio station. Sounds like it probably stems from the review you got in that publication. Anyway, congratulations and I'll have to check that radio station out!
