While looking at the roof we found an old mandolin in her attic. Knowing nothing about these instruments, I'm asking for some help and advice in selling it for her. It looks expensive, it has a curved top and bottom (not a turtleback style) looks like a mahogany double back and side. The top appears to be spruce. The neck is straight. It has ivory geared pegs, an ivory bridge and an ivory inlay around the sound hole. One small hairline crack running from the sound hole toward the peghead (maybe 3" long). She said her husband bought it back in the late 30's used. On the back of the peghead is a gold-leaf decal with these words: H.A Weymann-Keystone State-MANDOLUTE-patented and manufactured in Philadelphia, Pa. .. I want to put it on eBay for her, but I have no idea on a starting price or if I should put a reserve on it. I don't want to give it away, but I want to fair with a potential buyer......Thanks, Brian |

Just go to Google.com and type in "weymann mandolute". Should give you some idea of a fair price. Bruce |

They were made in Philly and are very nice sounding. The model 15 was there entry level and the model 90 was top of the line and really decked out with inlays and purfling etc. I know a fellow who is collecting serial #'s etc, and building a data-base on the weymann company and there instruments.
