I'll be the first to say, "Please don't go! We need your GUEST arse!" but it you're just one of them stray GUESTS, then don't let the door hit ya on the way out.... But, hey, know that I'd give ya a 5.9 fir the post... Bobert |
21 Jul 02 - 01:31 AM (#751895) Subject: RE: From Max: Important Information (False posting) From: Bee-dubya-ell I was thinking that this GUEST didn't qualify as a "guest" as I understand the word. So, It took a moment to look up the definition of "guest" in the dictionary. One of the meanings is, "An insect or other animal living or breeding in the nest etc. of another animal". In other words, a parasite. So, I guess he qualifies after all. Bruce |

21 Jul 02 - 06:04 AM (#751925) Subject: RE: BS: From Max: Important Information(False posting) From: McGrath of Harlow Remember the thing about anonymous GUESTs if that there is no reason to suppose that any one posting under that non-name has anything to do with any other posting.
The only thing that it is possible to assume about an anonymous GUEST is that it is someone with a screw loose about perceived anonymity. Sometimes this is associated with malignity, as in this case, though not always. |

There are lots of ways to be (practically speaking)anonymous. Here are a few: Use someone else's computer Use an Internet Cafe or library Use an Internet enabled 'phone booth Use a proxy (or two) Connect via a 'pay as you go' mobile phone etc |
21 Jul 02 - 03:07 PM (#752040) Subject: RE: BS: From Max: Important Information(False posting) From: Gareth So guest: On the occasions I've been cookie less, or using some other computer I've had no trouble signing in a "Guest Gareth". I agree that there are a few occasions when anonimity is proper, such as for proffesional reasons, or deep personal matters. But the habit of signing in as Guest only and then proceeding to flame, troll, or just insult, Max, or other Catters is just not aceptable to the vast majority of the participants. It demeans the site, and causes many of the problems that "Anon Guests" seem to complain (Whinge) about. Personally I think that such behavoiur is akin to scribling obscenaties upon lavetary walls. And demonstrates a similar imature and purile mentality. I wonder how many of the other sites some diaffected "Guests" claim to visit allow such behaviour. To critisise is fair, and preferably constructive, but if you have a problem, then if you post, have the guts to put your moniker to it. Or do you wish to be classed as "disgusted of Tonbridge Wells", the nutcase who always writes anonomouse letters in green ink. If I have offended any genuine anon guests, then you have my fullhearted appologie - the rest, well why not go and play hopscotch on the Motorway/Freeway/Autobahn. Gareth |
