Lyr Req: Where No One Stands Alone (Mosie Lister)

Subject: lyrics: Take my hand all the way
From: jaallen@pen.K12.va.us

Please help. We need the words to a song that has this for the chorus: Take my hand, all the way, every hour, every day, from here to the great unknown, Take my hand, let me stand where no one walks alone. Or something like that. Thanks.

WHERE NO ONE STANDS ALONE
(Mosie Lister)
'58 Mosie Lister Publications

Once I stood in the night with my head bowed down
In the darkness as black as the sea
And I felt so alone and I cried oh Lord don't hide Thy face from me
Take my hand all the way every hour every day from here to the great unknown<
Take my hand let me stand where no one stands alone

Like a king I may live in a palace so high with great riches to call my own
But I don't know a thing in this whole wide world that's worse than being alone
Take my hand all the way every hour every day from here to the great unknown
Take my hand let me stand where no one stands alone

WHERE NO ONE STANDS ALONE
(Words & music by Mosie Lister, © 1955)

Once I stood in the night with my head bowed low
In the darkness as black as could be,
And my heart felt alone, and I cried, "Oh, Lord,
Don't hide Your face from me."

CHO: Hold my hand all the way, every hour, every day
From here to the great unknown.
Take my hand; let me stand
Where no one stands alone.

Like a king I may live in a palace so tall
With great riches to call my own,
But I don't know a thing in this whole wide world
That's worse than being alone. CHO.

Below is how it's transcribed in the Max Hunter collection, though I am sure some of these words were misheard. But you can hear it in the Collection for yourself.

I have the Elvis version of "Where No Man Stands Alone" as an MP3 if anyone is dying to hear it. (PM me an e-mail address.)

WHERE NO ONE STANDS ALONE
Max Hunter Collection Cat. #1234 (MFH #852)
As sung by Ollie Gilbert, Mountain View, Arkansas on October 26, 1971

VERSE 1
I stood in the night
With my head bowed low
In the darkness, black as the sea
And my heart was afraid
An' I cried, O Lord
Don't hide your face from me

CHORUS:
Hold my hand all the way
Ever hour, ever day
From here to the great unknown
Take my hand and let me stand
Where no one stands alone

VERSE 2
Like a change I may live
In a mansion so tall
With great riches to call my own
But I don't know a thing
In this wide world
T'is worth than bein' alone

SH

I've been listening to Alison Krauss/Cox Family's version of "Where No One Stands Alone" on I Know Who Holds Tomorrow. Sheet music is in Gospel's Greatest (Word Music/Hal Leonard, p. 278).
