30 Jul 02 - 02:00 PM (#757037) Subject: A break from the 'Mouse'? From: C-flat My partner and my 5year-old daughter are dragging me to Orlando next Sunday and although I'm really looking forward to seeing the little ones' reaction to the "wonders" of Disney and many other distractions I'm wondering if there's anywhere in striking distance to sit and relax with a cool beer and enjoy some live music away from the manufactured atmosphere of the theme parks. We've hired a car for the two weeks we're there so can strike out a little and I know we have some 'catters in FLA. so if you're reading this and can help I'd be grateful for any information. Thanks in advance, C-flat. P.S.I'll be the one wearing the mouse-ears so wave if you see me! :0) |

From: Wesley S There is a House of Blues { www.hob.com I think } in Downtown Disney { near the parks } that has live music and Gospel brunches on Sunday morning. Also a nice little guitar store across from HOB and a large Virgin record store. For local music look up www.foff.org. The friends of Florida folk site. And take sunscreen. Lots of it. |

From: Lonesome EJ It has been a few years, but I remember a nice little Irish Bar on the main drag in Orlando, run by Actual Irish Folk with Guinness on tap, smoky oak paneling, etc. There are quite a few Irish and British in Orlando, so it should be easy to find a good pub there. |
