If you record any of your jamming, send us an MP3. Genie |

04 Aug 02 - 08:20 PM (#759815) Subject: RE: Balboa Park Jam Confirmed - Aug 4, San Diego From: Amos Aw Mick, I'm sorry -- I forgot the camera!! I kicked myself all the way down 163 when I realized it! Anyway we had a good old hoot; Banjoest showed up just after I did, and there were three of his buddies already there playing guitar, mandolin, and a bass guitar that had a real beautiful boom to it. Bet and her daughter (kat's sister and niece) showed up. We were in the middle of a nice greensward under a tree, and a small crowd gathered to listen, and seemed happy with the singing and picking. Banjoest is an awesome bluegrass picker, and his friends were wonderful on guitar, bass, mandolin, and vocals. So we made the Balboa welkin ring for two hours with some old favorites (Big Ball in Boston, The Luisville Burglar, and All the Good times) and a number of ripsnorting instrumentals like Foggy Mountain Breakdown and a handful of more modern tunes like Annie's Lover and NightRider's Lament, which I studied up from the recording of Mudjack's powerful singing up at JenEllensburg. And blues without end, with or without words, and on we did roll for two full hours. We all seemed to fit together purdy well, i'd say, and the music was lively, the weather perfect, the grass green, the breeze pleasant, as only a summer Sunday in Balboa Park can be. I just wush you had been there! Thanks, Banjoest!! It was a gas. Be sure and fill in whatever I have left out -- my apoloigies for spacing on names. I am really bad at them, I am ashamed to say. Just call me Mudcat Space Cadet.... :>) Fond regards, A |

04 Aug 02 - 08:30 PM (#759817) Subject: RE: Balboa Park Jam Confirmed - Aug 4, San Diego From: Amos In case you're wondering, the Luisville Burglar is the Luisville Burglar translated from French to Spanish. Just kidding -- it was a typo! Hey Mick -- speaking of music -- how about that tape/MP3 you're readying up for me!!?? VBR A |

04 Aug 02 - 09:48 PM (#759840) Subject: RE: Balboa Park Jam Confirmed - Aug 4, San Diego From: katlaughing Bet just called to tell me how much she enjoyed herself. Really appreciated the great music and musicianship. When I'd asked her earlier if she had her Mudcat T-shirt or badge with her and she said no, we decided we could tell all to watch for the gal with short hair; now, she tells that wouldn't have worked anyway as they all had short hair except for her daughter!*bg* Thanks, again, Banjoest, for pulling this together. Bet will be posting, herself, once she gets back home. kat |

Thanks to everyone who showed up, pickers and listeners, you all made the day. Thanks, Hugh |
