Lyr Req: song from 'Raising Arizona'

I've been wondering about that lullaby that Holly Hunter sings to the baby at one point. What I can remember goes: For I have murdered that dear little girl, Whose name was Rose Conn-a-lee.

Anybody out there know where this came from? The rest of the lyrics?

Much obliged for any help! Michael

Hi- A good place to start looking is the Digital Tradition database. It's in there.

Thanks for the title guys. I knew it had to be in there some where. I did a search on "Rose Connally" but I got nothing. I spelled "Connelly" wrong, though, and that may have splurfled the search engine. Oh happy day!

Names are hard to spell correctly and computers are dumb. If you don't spell it right, they cannot find it, so try searching for the part of the name you know, like [Rose Con*] or a phrase from the song, like [name was Rose] or [murdered that dear]. The square brackets keep the phrase together rather than searching for the three words in any order.

Not to belabor the issue, but one more clue.

ANY words in the song will work (moon, june, spoon, etc.). So, even if you have only one line, you may be able to get a hit if you use a key word or two. You may hit on a bunch of other songs, too, but so what. This helps when songs have many variants, or you haven't got the foggiest notion of the title or the rest of the words.

Good advise allaround. Thanks guys! And let me just say what a wonderful thing is the Digital Tradition. A great tool; a pleasant diversion; and a place to meet kindred spirits. Thanks to The Mudcat for sheltering our baby.
