Dear fellow Mudcat Listers,

At the request of several existing Mudcat Listers, in both the UK & America, we have been asked to post details of a the UK. based independent acoustic Web Radio station: Ragamuffin Radio.

Ragamuffin streams three acoustic music programs, available completely free of charge & membership, 24hrs. a day from its independent studio facility in Southern England.

The latest program advise released upon 1st August 2002. Internet Radio & Fine Acoustic Music lives On!! A special acoustic musical history treat for our English & American friends

this mey be accessed more by u.s. listeners now that internet radio here has been squelched by a ruling which requires stations to pay royalties. This has prohibited many stations from being able to broadcast at all. some have reduced to playaing only material which they them selves have taped live with the artist permission...many have ceased to play commercial recordings all together...the original intent was that the artists should be compensated for their music, but as it happens, their music is being stifled by not being played, and the record co. execs. and music biz middle men are getting most of the benefit from the new fees. many streaming audio service are freebies and have no money to pay the royalties...mercy, this is a predicament...
