New Squeezer! (Mastercraft Midget)

Has anyone heard of this kind of accordion? I just picked one up at the House of Musical Traditions, and I haven't been able to get any information about the make doing a Google search. It's got a lovely sound, but I've never heard of this kind of accordion before...

"Mastercraft Midget - Ivory pearl, swirly metal grille design, 3/4 reeds LMM, lovely light musette tuning, 5/2 registers, 16 lbs, 15" keyboard, straps & case. 120 basses but only 39 trebles instead of 120, for a more compact keyboard without having the keys too narrow. The tuning could use a touch up if you are a professional, but will be fine for amateur use. This very rare and desirable model is a very light and compact 3 reed instrument suitable for someone with small hands looking for a good quality accordion without sacrificing sound and features. People search for these for years without finding one in this good shape. Well maintained & in exc. condition."

Never heard of one, Cags, but sounds very similar to the La Scala that Bill picked up for me in the States, which is also a ladies box (ahem!). I would question fitting 120 trebles on, though, mate! That'd be like strapping a joana on yer fun bags!

It sounds like wet tuning, but not enough musette to make yer fillings rattle. Sounds great. How have you found it? It's like learning another instrument, with the narrower key width.

Go for it, I say.

This message hereby completes extradition protocols for the forcible removal of one Joseph Offer, US Citizen, for trial at the kangaroo court sitting in session at Cecil Sharpe House, London, England, under the serious charge of trivialising the free reed instrument.

The Joseph Offer v Crown trial will follow immediately after the Rolf Harris case for burning the accordion in a cynical TV ratings war.

If found guilty, Joseph Offer will face a maximum penalty of attending countless free-reed sessions in the UK for a two week period starting August 12th, where partcipants will be encouraged to subject the criminal to attitude-altering accordion solos until he shows genuine remorse, or buys them a pint.

This extradition is not open to appeal.

Hey Carol - slight thread drift - didja visit any Canadian Tire stores when you graced the Great White North? If you did, you might have noticed that their house brand (for tools, paints, auto parts etc) is Mastercraft. My guess is they haven't veered off into the music thing, but given your (insightful, heartwarming, prescient) penchant for Canuckery, I thought I should at least mention it. Coincidence? Or.... (Twilight Zone theme here...)
