Dean guitars

After reading Genie's tread about thin neck guitars I started looking around to see what I can find. I called my favorite music store and they suggested I try a Dean Studio model. Anyone have any feeling about this. I can't afford an expensive guitar, needs to have a thin neck. I have a Martin Backpacker but the neck is thick. I tried locating Baby Taylor 3/4, Takamine, Tacama, and Wechter but didn't find any close by, closest was a 4 hour drive. Let me know what you think if you have any info on the Dean. bet

I think Dean acoustic instruments are one of the best buys around. They sound as good as and look much better than anything in their price range. I have a Dean resonator guitar that, while far from a real Dobro or National, is a great guitar for the money. I bought my daughter a Dean Exotica a couple of years ago that she adores. I played every mid-priced guitar in the store when I bought it and it definitely had the best sound, even with its laminated top. Nice electronics too, if you play plugged in.

Just throwing my two cents in. I love my Dean Resonator. Very bluesy, good action, nice neck. It's one of my favorite axes. I have been very impressed with the value of the Deans across the board.

While some Dean guitars are just great, we have seen more of them with the bridge saddles in the wrong position than with other similar instruments. I think these guitars come from Samick, as do 10 other brands, so we have been puzzled as to this situation. It wouldn't hurt to measure from inside the top nut to the 12th fret, then from the 12th fret to the bridge saddle, just to be sure. Or have the dealer slap on a new set of strings so you can check intonation at the 12th fret. Using an electronic tuner you should get a true octave.

I've owned an Exotica for a couple years and to be quite frank...was first attracted to it for it's classy looks. It's very striking with quilted maple backs and sides...lovely inlay, etc. I also own a Gibson which is my favorite to use..however, last week was called upon a job which required me to have a guitar with a pick-up so I trotted out the Dean. It performed brilliantly and sounded fantastic even with old strings on it. It has since been rewarded with nice, shiny, bright, new strings and sounds fantastic. Great tuners ...great pickup. I'm pleased.

Ayers knock spots off them. Absolutely the best sounding cheap guitar.

If you want a really little neck, try a Sigma DM2 if you can find one second hand. Shriller than the DM4 though.

I love my Dean. Small neck, short fingers - it's playable! Sounds great. bet

I bought my Dean Resonator on impulse after 17 years with a Strat, and I'm really glad that I did. Stays in tune, nice action, no fret buzz, great bluesy tone, and enough volume to cut through a crowded pub. Just as important, it is solidly made with a knock-resistant finish which is reassuring away from home. I'm now ready to buy a regular acoustic to keep it company, and the Dean Exotica is high on the shopping list, above S&P (too fragile?) but below a Martin or J45, though that's pretty good company to be keeping. If you want one, buy one: you won't be sorry!

There must be some mistake here. I've never made a guitar; I did make one BANJO, but to be honest it doesn't play well at all.

shoot, guys, that's

It works from the "test link" line in the clickifier, but then the clickifier shuts my Juno down with an error. Tried typing the link coding in myself, and the coding just disappeared.

AND TALKED WITH SEASONED ACOUSTIC PLAYERS AND IT WAS INTERESTING
ON THE VARIED POINTS OF VIEW....FROM TAYLOR TO TACOMA TO GIBSON....
AND THE LIST GOES ON
I WAS NOT REALLY COMFORTABLE WITH MOST OF THESE
AS I HAD BEEN PLAYING GRETSCH ELECTRICS ....AND WANTED SOMETHING CLOSE that neck style
I STUMBLED ON A DEAN ...THAT WAS THE EXOCITkA
RSE TOP OF THE LINE....AT A WELL KNOWN MUSIC STORE HERE....IT BLEW MY MIND FOR A LOW END CHINA MADE GUITAR WITH GROVERS GREAT CUTAWAY VENTIAN STYLE.....ETC....I DIDNT GET THAT MODEL...BUT I FOUND A LIMITED ONE ON EBAY....CALLED THE FREEDOM WITH great real mother of pearl inlay on the neck...cool~ very.nice tone and neck...it is my main axe....for the money and the features ...great guitars...i think you have to find the one that works for you
