I'm still looking for complete lyrics of this song, it goes like this:

So fare ye well my darling
So fare ye well my dear
Do not weep if it's my long absence
While I'm present here
Since it ...
So try to live and ...
And do not weep for me

She runs her lily white hands
And ...
You enlisted as a soldier
And in the war you'd die
In the battle you'd be wounded
And in the ... be slain

Unfortunately, the "previous thread" linked to do not contain the lyrics requested.

SO FARE YE WELL was recorded by The Highwaymen. It was written by Gil Robbins, a member of The Highwaymen. It's on the album "Michael, Row the Boat Ashore: The Best of The Highwaymen," Alliance CD 96334, 1996. As far as I can tell, no one else ever recorded it. Here's my transcription of a sound sample found at Allmusic.com:

I'm goin' away tomorrow to tarry for a while,
So far from my dear darlin'; it's about five hundred mile.
I hope the time is coming when I and you shall meet....

It may have been partly written by Gil Robbins, but it appears to have been based on Ten Thousand Miles / Turtle Dove (reference as in the thread Sorcha indicated); with some motifs added from other sources.
