recording keyboards

As an ancient and thoroughly analog kind of guy trying hard to adjust to this strange new digital world, I find the current thread on mini-recorders quite interesting.

Now then, is there such a thing as a smallish, portable keyboard (I keep resisting the urge to call it a piano) that records and stores what you play. Seems like that would be a great songwriting tool.

Best wishes, Tony

I've had one for a few years. The trouble with the less expensive ones is that theyre invariably linked in to the drum/ accompaniment, and so if you want to do without it its a real hassle, and when you begin theres usually a count in which disappears on replay and to replay without acc. you have to turn them off during replay !!!!!. I'll be interested to know of any simple keyboards that you can completely exclude drum/acc so that I can concentrate on overdubbing melodies.
