Anybody know a good place in town for sessions which are not made up entirely of vituoso musicians? I can pick a few chords and sing. Anywhere on the west coast I've been before (Cleggan, Westport, Killarney...) the locals are delighted to have newcomers involved |

There are numerous other pubs that have sessions including The Quays and Seaghan O Neachtains. I'll leave it up to yourself as to whether you feel you can join in any of these sessions or not. Most of the above sessions would be mainly tune-based traditional sessions. Mick Taylor's bar (next door to the Roisin Dubh) ocasionally have sessions which would tend to have less of a focus on trad music and more singing involved. |

My brother and I did a couple of sets in Newman's about a year back, and had a very enthusiastic response. I think yer man that sings owns the place; way to go, buy a pub, then direct your own sessions! |
