I only heard it once, a very long time ago, on a BBC radio schools programme. Here are the words as I recall them: The good old days are gone, me boys, the good old days of pudding and beef For stealing a chicken, a cow or an ass would serve now to bring us to grief For kicking up Charlie or kissing a lass Or breaking up stocking-frames, iron or brass Would gain us a pretty hemp necklace alas In the days of General Lud. Come to think of it, I can't recall any other songs about luddites. But I'd be very surprised if they didn't exist |

And in that web there was not single song I had ever before come across. Good stuff. I now suspect that the song I recall was specially written for the programme, although it had a traditional feel to it Anyway, thanks again. |
