09 Sep 02 - 06:07 AM (#779533) Subject: RE: Music weekend in Leicestershire From: MBSLynne Sorry, hit the wrong thing! Brassneck is the band in which my husband plays. They only play fairly locally and occasionally, which is why you won't have heard of them. They consist of a guitarist, a bassist, a fiddler, an accordionist (or keyboard,) a drummer and a mandolin p[layer who also plays guitar and French horn. They are a ceilidh band, but also do non-ceilidh stuff sometimes. |
|
09 Sep 02 - 07:30 AM (#779554) Subject: RE: Music weekend in Leicestershire From: Orac Thats Ok then.. I'm in a local (to you) ceilidh band too and we sometimes call ourselves by that name. You had me worried then ... as 2 of the band are in Ireland this weekend and we knew nothing about it... !! Maybe we won't use that name again if its already being used locally. |

10 Sep 02 - 05:27 PM (#780765) Subject: RE: Music weekend in Leicestershire From: GUEST,Ted Orac We've been going out in the Midlands as Brassneck for about three years now! Come along on Friday night and we'll talk over a pint (well, alright, maybe more than one!) |

12 Sep 02 - 08:28 AM (#781943) Subject: RE: Music weekend in Leicestershire From: MBSLynne Look forward to seeing you. We start on Saturday at 11.00 and go on until 2.00, when we have half an hour break, 2.30 till 5.00, then start the evening at 8.00 until whenever. The Sunday survivor session is around lunchtime. It looks as though the weather may be good, in which case we will probably do a lot of it outside. I'm looking forward to it! |

Thank you Mr Happy for the revelation that "Happiness" can be sung to the tune of Ellen Vannen, and vice versa..... I will PM you the words of Helen Akitt's "Granddad goes dancing on Mayday." Kitty |

16 Sep 02 - 05:50 AM (#784937) Subject: RE: Music weekend in Leicestershire From: MBSLynne Thanks guys! I feel all warm and fluffy inside after reading your last two messages! I really enjoyed it too, though I was worried in case other people didn't. Someone else has told me it was the best yet. Let's hope we can build on it and get it even better next year, when we will be in the brand new building. |

16 Sep 02 - 07:27 PM (#785553) Subject: RE: Music weekend in Leicestershire From: Herga Kitty Lynne An added bonus was getting the re-recorded tape of Steve Thomason's songs, including the 6 he's written since he recorded the original 10 last year. I sang "The Sound of Union" at Herga this evening, and have given a copy of the tape to Johnny Collins. |
|
17 Sep 02 - 05:21 AM (#785847) Subject: RE: Music weekend in Leicestershire From: MBSLynne I'd like a copy of that too. Does he have any CDs or tapes for sale? He's a brilliant songwriter with a fantastic voice. |
|
17 Sep 02 - 08:45 PM (#786295) Subject: RE: Music weekend in Leicestershire From: Herga Kitty Lynne He won't record commercially - and he re-recorded the songs at home a couple of weekends ago on a tape recorder borrowed from school because he lost the master tape he recorded last year! He says the tape is for learning songs from, not for listening to... I'll see if he or me can get a tape to you too. Kitty |

18 Sep 02 - 05:46 AM (#786494) Subject: RE: Music weekend in Leicestershire From: MBSLynne Thanks Kitty. I would love to hear a proper CD of him singing his songs, but if it's just a case of learning his songs, that's fine. There are some really good ones. |
