If you have the chance and good weather, get to the top of the Great Orme! Splendid views!

Jon Freeman should know the area as he lives/lived there.

Try to make a side trip to Conwy...it's lovely there, too!

It's worth checking out if Jonkers have anything lined up while you're there. They are on 9 Chapel street. Tel. 01978 86 11 58. They have a good selection of renowned folk musicians and songwriters (Show of Hands, Boo Hewerdine, to name a few), performances take place in a very intimate room (only 30 people could fit in it I think!) and you have a meal during the interval. Plate on your lap, I found out to my surprise. Nice place. It just gets away with it... And no, I've got nothing to do with the place other than that I've been and enjoyed it. Llangollen is one of my favourite places around here, and I'm sure you'll find plenty to do. You could also go to Chester, Alexander Jazz Theatrein Rufus Court (has website) or Telford Warehouse (has website). Telfords has an open mic night every Sunday night. Not much folk going on though, more songwriters/jazzy/whatever the bands do-stuff. Enjoy your weekend! An

Hi Mr Happy, I only meant to say that there isn't much folk going on in Telfords on a Sunday night. But I can see how the way I've written it wasn't clear. Sorry! All the same, I enjoyed reading your message and learnt from it as well. An

Mr Happy, are you sure you are right on Conwy Folk Club being on a Sunday? There has been other music in Conway on a Sunday but the folk club always used to be a Monday.

Go to www.folkorbit.co.uk which has a list of lots of clubs/sessions in the North west including North Wales. There is a session and a club at the Malt Shovel(?) Conway but I can't remember which nights.

Thanks for the info. Had a great time in Llandudno despite not finding any music. Llangollen's not far away from me anyway so might give that a whirl one Wednesday.

Thanks again.

a good few years ago i was on a 'team building exercise'in llanberis.there was a lot of 'outward bound'type activities like raft making[very wet & messy],abseiling[arguing about ropes],walking up steep hills in gale force winds & snow blizzzards.

on the sat night, the 'team' went off 'clubbing'[whatever that is?].

me & the course co-ordinator found a nice pub with a pianna & some sining in. a good few stocky welsh minor/mynah? types were there & sang some really kosher[bailey]songs.

'there's a story the gypsy told to me,that if your love wears golden earrings he/she belongs to you-oo'&'non,je ne regret rien, non,je ne rgret rien,' ect

the whole evening was fabulous, 'myfanwy' sung in cymraig so fervently that a vein on his forehead could be seen standing out & throbbing!

not so good next morning, ill!got part way up the hill, so cold, freeezing, blowy winds hi ho!
