Lyr Req: Concrete and Clay (Unit 4+2)

From: GUEST,ASLIII

Looking in vain for a song- know some lyrics, but can not come up with title or artist- from 60's, folky (somewhat like the seekers' style)

"we'll see the mountains crumble before we say goodbye, my love and I will be in love eternally, cause that's the way, the way it's meant to be"

Any idea- all of my respected music sources remember the song and tune, but not the artist or title.

THANKS!! ASL

Concrete and Clay : They Might Be Giants

REFLEX 1988

You to me
Are sweet as roses in the morning
You to me
Are soft as summer in the dawn in love we share
That's something rare
The sidewalks in the street
The concrete and the clay beneath my feet begin to crumble
But love will never die you know we'll see the mountains crumble
Before we say goodbye
My love and I will be
In love eternally
That's the way
That's the way love was meant to be
All around
I see the purple shades of evening
On the ground
Shadows fallen, once again you're in my arms
So tenderly
The sidewalks in the street
The concrete and the clay beneath my feet begin to crumble
But love will never die you know we'll see the mountains crumble
Before we say goodbye
My love and I will be
In love eternally
That's the way
That's the way love was meant to be
The sidewalks in the street
The concrete and the clay beneath my feet begin to crumble
But love will never die you know we'll see the mountains crumble
Before we say goodbye
My love and I will be
In love eternally
That's the way
That's the way love was meant to be
That's the way
That's the way love was meant to be

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

I think Randy Adelman had a crack at this one, in the 70s

It always cracked me up when I heard:

"my feet begin to crumble"

i am lookin for a song from a 7 inch record i got given to me in the mid 80's   ..

the song could be thats the way love meant to be or something like this ..

the cover of the record had a man in denim jeans sitting on a chair holding a glass quite casul lookin. may of had a denim shirt on too.. there was a B side to this with a song with the words africa or maybe african queen in it ..
