Llanstock lll cancelled this year

From: Llanfair

I'm sorry, folks, but I won't be able to do the necessary in time.

On Wednesday I was involved in an accident on the Welshpool road. I'm not hurt badly, just bruising and burns from the airbag. My beautiful Subaru will probably be written off. I was hit by a motorcycle coming round a blind bend on my side of the road.

Although I will have a hire car from tomorrow,I am not sure I will be able to get about much, as I keep getting "flashes" of the motorbike in front of me, and the rider hitting the windscreen. He's in Shrewsbury hospital, as far as I know.

I will miss seeing you all, but I hope to plan bigger and better for next year.

Cheers, Bron.

Bron - Sorry to hear you have been involved in a "bump". It is very upsetting even if you are not physically injured. We hope you recover rapidly.
Wishing you all the best.

understandable. Hope the "flashes" don't take too long to overcome. (though I understand. I was broadsided at an intersection 27 years ago - I still cannot approach that intersection without a bit of a twitch)

Heal well, Bron, both physically and otherwise. I hope you got checked out, thoroughly, sometimes injuries take a while to show up. I was broadsided by a young girl who ran a stop sign 32 years ago and still have a numb spot in my back. I thought I was fine and refused treatment.:-)

Loving thoughts and peaceful times,

kat

Bron, imagine all the music your event has generated in the past.... floating back to you and through you now for your healing.... after first going all around the world like a big hug with your name on it.

Bron, that's horrible. I can still remember your white knuckles as Penelope Pitstop careered the fanny magnet across Holland and Germany, whilst my fingers bled all over your guitar in the back. The good thing is you're here to tell us the tale, so mend soon, and we'll look forward to a mega-Llanstock next year.

Love

Bron, glad you did not get hurt too badly!
Heal well and fast!

I can understand that you cancel Llanstock for this year (there have not been too many bookings anyway...).

Get well soon, I hope to see you at Eurogathering 3 in Groningen.

Add my thoughts to the others. Had a car written off a few years ago by someone coming round a long bend on the wrong side, like they say, the effects can kick in later. Hope you're OK, and I look forward to my first Llanstock next year.

A bit of witch hazel and plenty sleep, knit up the ravelled sleeve, and all that rot. Glad you're OK, and I know how you feel about the car, but it's expendable, and you're not.

Oh!! thank you all for your kind words and thoughts!! I'm getting quite tearful!! Delayed reaction or hormones??? who can tell????

I'll watch out for symptoms of whiplash injury, though I think I had almost stopped when he hit me, there's no seatbelt bruising, and I don't remember making contact with the airbag, except with my arm, which is literally black and blue!!

Anyone else got experience of airbags inflating? Is it right that in America they are used instead of seatbelts?

Talk to you soon,

Cheers, Bron.

Oh Bron, sorry to hear about your accident. Take care of yourself, and get get well soon. Look out for flashbacks-they can happen anytime. Even 10 years after a very serious whiplash-which didn't help me brain or neck, I still sometimes sit waiting to turn with one eye on the mirror listening for the sickening scream of tyres.
Don't worry about us, get better-then you will come to Holland in spring!

Bye

Love n peace

Eric

bRON,
wE USE BOTH SEAT BELTS (MANDATORY IN MOST STATES) AND (damn!) airbags, if a car has them.

Rest and watch your symptoms carefully. Shock often disguises an injury. Stay well, luv.

Bron, how terrible! Even though you're not badly hurt (glad to hear that!) it'll take you some time to recover. Be specially good to yourself for a while! I also hope the cyclist survives, even though it wasn't your fault he hit you. See you in Groningen next year.

I'm using the arnica, Diva, and I've had cocolate cake this afternoon, does that count?

I've been able to drive again this weekend, but with someone in the car to stop me thinking too much. I've got a hire car for the duration, and should find out next week if my car is a writeoff.

Thank you for your kind thoughts and words, they are nearly as therapeutic as chocolate and rescue remedy!!!

Cheers, Bron.

Hello Bron - that's a bit of a bugger isn't it? Why I don't I bring a barrel of Nev's round anyway!!

I had my beautiful Fiat written off last year on the road below Squilver. (He was coming the other way and decided to take avoiding action in the same direction as me - he said that when he realised, he 'accelerated to try and get in front of me') I realised that it was going to hurt when the engine appeared on the passenger seat! As it happens the only damage to me was burns from the airbag, a bit of bruising and a stiff neck - although I thought I must be dead when the world went white (the airbag inflating, I realised afterwards).

Acupuncture worked for the aches and pains, although on one occasion just afterwards, as Helen approached a roundabout a bit sharpish, I burst into tears!

Get better soon - give me a shout if there's anything I can do.

What a terrible thing to happen Bron. My very best wishes for your speedy recovery. The flashbacks from such an incident can be awful.

If you want someone to massage your aches and pains and drink your beer for you, the I'm your man!

Just got back from Bromyard, Bron, and so sorry to hear your news. It must have been an aweful shock but, loking on the bright side, it obviously could have been much worse. Hope your bruising goes speedily and that your voice is still splendid.

Oh Bron, I'm so sorry to hear what you've gone through. Don't worry about anything else (in particular don't worry about Llanstock!), just be nice to youself and take it easy. Hugs winging their way to you, avoiding the bruises....

Come over to Manchester sometime, stay here if you like- I'll pick you up from the train- and we'll take in some (folk)clubs.

And Greg- I don't remember you complaining at the time.... :0)

Sorry to hear about the accident, warm thoughts are heading in your direction. As others have said watch out for delayed shock - it can be a bit overwhelming if it happens. Deep breaths .... hold..... count to five and let out slowly, or have stiff drink

Well, the bruises and burns are healing nicely, those airbags are a bit sudden, aren't they? I'm still seeing phantom bikers on blind corners, but this too will pass. The motorcyclist is OK, by the way.

Perhaps we could manage a small party on the 19th October, what do you think?

Patrish, lovely to hear from you, how's it going??

Cheers, Bron.

I know what you mean about the flashbacks. Mine happened because I was on my motorcycle and a car came at ME in my lane around a blind curve. It gets better, though with time. Luckily no one was killed in either case.

Best to ya Bron.
