14 Sep 02 - 05:55 PM (#784045) Subject: B.S. : Menc, Headstart From: GUEST,Fred Miller Susan--I can't remember your acroname. I did find my MENC ID #, but as I posted a question about my insane guitar pick project there, tumbleweeds were blowing past. It's not a busy forum. The Headstart site didn't turn anything up on a search for music, but I'm sure you're ahead of me on pursuing this gig. To do what you want to do, have you tried the visiting artist circuit for your local schools? around here one is panel-judged into it, and I'm sure the schools could use more of what you're doing. Also, sometimes museums like presenting family stuff--I took my kids to see a great Appalachian Folk couple, called Zoey Speaks for their original stuff, at the art museum here. Anyway, I wanted to follow up. If I get any response from MENC I'll also ask more about your questions. I'm going to nose around about grants, a little. |

I do have a local contact looking into the Head Start curriculm, and my timing was excellent-- the public school is about to take it all away from a social services agency that has been doing Head Start, and my contacts in the school are good. So anything you can get from MENC would be helpful, whenever. Thanks again, ~Susan |
