Lyr Req: Seven Drunken Nights

Does anyone know of a variant on Seven drunken nights/Old Wichet in which a wife, instead of cuckolding her husband, is hiding someone who is a Jacobite on the run? The various things involved are similar; horse, boots etc., but the husband is a Whig and the consequences of discovery could be fatal. I thought that I had the ballad on computer but it must have vanished into some electronic limbo, and, since I don't remember the name, it makes a search pretty futile. Thanks in advance, D. McL.

Seven Drunken Nights is "Our Goodman" Child 274, dating back to 1776 [Herd]. If you search google for either you'll find plenty. In the US it's usually "Four Nights Drunk," we don't party as hard as you Irish.

Thanks very much ,Richie that,s just what I was thinking of, I can dig up the Jacobite details tomorrow. However, 'partying', hard or otherwise, is a long way in the past , thanks again. D. McL.
