Chord Req: Along the Road (Dan Fogelberg)

This is such a pretty song, I would like to learn it just for my own pleasure. Written by Dan Folgerburg, Doc Watson's version is super.
(WATSON COUNTRY).All I want is just some simple chords that an old grouch can learn. Thanks, Jeep

Crap. The preview said it was OK, but I used the "pre" command. I'll try again w/o that.

If this doesn't work, I give up.

We modified this from Jonathan Roung's version. We basically just put
our tab over his and left all the chords the way they were.

To play this song with the CD, capo on the 7th fret.

Riff 1
Joy at the start,
Fear in the journey,
Joy in the coming home.
A part of the heart
Gets lost in the learning
Somewhere along the road.

Riff 2
Along the road, your path may wander.
A pilgrim's faith may fail.
Absence makes the heart grow stronger.
Darkness obscures the trail.

Riff 1
Cursing the quest,
Courting disaster.
Measureless nights forebode.
Moments of rest,
Glimpses of laughter
Are treasured along the road.

Riff 2
Along the road your steps may stumble,
Your thoughts may start to stray.
But through it all, a heart held humble
Levels and lights your way.

Riff 1, Riff 2
Ahhhh....

Riff 1
Joy at the start...
Somewhere along the road.
Somewhere along the road.
Somewhere along the road. (fade out)

IT WORKED!! Just can't use the pre command anymore at all. Tab looks good and chords lined up. Is it the right song, Jeepster?

Can't use the
<pre>
command any more, Sorcha?
I think you can. Why not?
Just put it before and after the section with the chords, but don't use line breaks.

I thought I did, Joe. I know I didn't use line breaks. Oh well. Next time, I'll try again. I know I used pre and /pre....whatever.

Great song, and Doc's version is the best. I worked it out in D for finger-picking, which gives lots of stuff to do when it's break time. Verse: D-Bm-E-G-A-D....Chorus: E-G-Gm-D, Bm-E-Gm-A
