BS: Thank you Mudcat, for CarolC

Subject: Thank you Mudcat, for CarolC
From: Jack the Sailor

As many of you may know we met here. As we prepare to drive to Washington DC from the depths of the South (Columbus GA), for our wedding, next Saturday. I am moved to express my gratitude.

It is here that I met my best friend, My playmate, a music mate, my life partner my lover and (I never used to think I'd be able to say this) my soul mate.

To anyone who doesn't think think this is a community and a special place, I offer my experience and example. Thank you to you all and may you all be as blessed as me.

As I may have mentioned before, Carol C. was the first person to ever acknowledge me on the 'Cat, for that reason alone may I wish you both a wonderful day and much future happiness. Love and best from the fB.

Now this is a thread that shouldn't be classified as BS.

If I post a song link, that'll makes it a music thread. So here's the one we had for a wedding march when we were married, and that was 1964.

Honeymoon at the Getaway?

We've decided you can't have her. Please give her back now.

Seriously, I wish y'all the best of everything. I've met soulmates here, but it's the British meaning of 'mate'. My life has changed radically (for the better) because of them. Mudcat brings together people with a common interest in folk music who would otherwise never get to know one another. There's a bigger pool of potential participants in one's life.

...and don't forget the photos!

Why, you're welcome, Jack!

Can you imagine? All this from a simple "Check out this site...lot's of great music info".

I am glad that for *once* a recomendation I made actually panned out better than I could have hoped.

Amen from the middle of the Pacific. Wish I could be there, but I'll be in Disneyland with my daughter. (Tough choice, I know...) And, JtS, if you send me your address I'll send you some P.M.O. as a wedding present.

Aloha,
Mark

Amen, fat bastard. CarolC was the first person to show this perma-guest a touch of civility around here. And JtS says she is nicer in the real world than in her internet form. Imagine that. A Georgia peach from West Virginia. What a beautiful world.

Subject: ADD: One Time Only (Tom Paxton)
From: CarolC

Thanks everybody. I, too, find myself thanking the Mudcat, for more reasons than I can enumerate here. But especially for this amazing man I'm going to be marrying in a few days. I think everyone deserves to have someone as good, as funny, as intelligent, and as loving and kind as Rob in their life. But they can't have this one... he's mine ;-)

We both feel that this song pretty much says it all for us...

ONE TIME ONLY
(Tom Paxton)

I spent my hungry young years running wild
There was a lot I had to do
And I spent cities like a handful of change
But I never quit looking for you

CHORUS --

One time and one time only
Been such a long time lonely
One time and all time it will be
Been waiting such a long time
Each time has been the wrong time
Until you came to me

I looked for you in every face I saw
I could not find you any where
Then finally one day I quit trying at all
Looked up and saw you standing there

(Chorus)

I don't mind telling you what's on my mind
It's no big secret any more
I have no plans at all for moving on
That's one thing I never been for

I am especially delighted for Carol to finally find happiness. In exchange for a few dodgy accordion hints, this dear sweet woman let me into her life, and I will always appreciate that.

From the best intentions, probably rooted in envy for "gettin' the goyl", I congratulate JtS for winning our Carol's heart. Treasure her, as I'm sure you do and will, as we have and do.

Thanks michaelr

Amos, We'd thought about that. We met on Mudcat Hoser Tavern. Very few people have such an enduring record of their first flirtation!

Thanks fB, She's a wonderful person eh?

Yeah Rick, and an accordion would be useless to me without a player. We're gonna work up some duets on some fine old Newfie tunes! (No booting WYSIWYG)

Twas on Mudcat we met on a thread
And after the day on which we wed
We will no longer have to say
That we only talk from miles away

Thanks Morticia, We'll see you at the getaway!

Jeri! I tried to give her back! She won't go!!!! ;)

This is Celtic Soul, my sister in law.... (Just practicing)

Thanks LH! But what would Shatner say?

Thanks Mark! Have fun with the mouse! You can send the oil care of the getaway.

Yes Dan she is WONDERFUL!!! Hence the wedding! I couldn't imagine my life without her!

MY LOVE IS LIKE A RED, RED ROSE
(Robert Burns)

0, my love is like a red, red rose,
that's newly sprung in June.
0, my love is like a melodie,
that's sweetly play'd in tune.

As fair thou art, my bonnie lass,
so deep in luve am I,
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
till a' the seas gang dry.

Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,
and the rocks melt wi' the sun!
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
while the sands of life shall run.

And fare the weel, my only luve!
And fare the well awhile!
And I will come again, my love.
Tho it were ten thousand mile!

Yes! Khandu, How did you know??

Bless you, my dears. And here is a poem by Federico Garcia Lorca who weren't no slouch when it come to romance.

Tu eres mi luna,

Tu eres mi sol,

Tu eres mi corazon

You are my moon,

You are my sun,

Carol had that in mind, but actually she's by way of becoming a Newfoundlander.

("We're Newfoundlanders, not Canadians, not by a DAMN site yet!")

But Newfoundlanders get to say cool things like "Stay where you're at and I'll come where you're to", a sentence which is banned by legislative decree in Ontario the Good.

On a more sober note, I'm concerned about people traveling to the wedding of Jack the Sailor and CarolC, given the current situation with the sniper in the DC area. If anyone who's reading this is planning to attend the wedding, and the sniper hasn't been caught yet, for Pete's sake don't stop at a gas station in MD, DC or VA (at least, not one near a major highway – that seems to be the sniper's preferred location). Be careful, everyone!!!!!
