Larry Penn on WFDU-FM's Traditions

Subject: Larry Penn on WFDU-FM's TRADITIONS
From: WFDU - Ron Olesko

This Sunday, October 13, Larry Penn will be my guest on WFDU-FM's TRADITIONS.

Larry, a member of The Rose Tattoo, has been writing songs for decades. Larry is best known as the composer of "I'm A Little Cookie", a song about handicaps as well as "Grandma's Patchwork Quilt". His songs have been recorded by artists like Pete Seeger and they tell stories of truckers, railroads, hobos, hard work and families.   Larry will share his songs and tell us the stories behind them. We will also talk about railroading, from historic fallen flags to the current state of Amtrack as well as the legend of model railroading, John Allen. Larry will tell us about the Rose Tattoo and how he got the hobo name of Cream City Slim.

Traditions can be heard on Sunday afternoons from 3 to 6pm on WFDU-FM, 89.1 in the NYC area or you can listen in on the internet at www.wfdu.fm

Just refreshing this note.

I hope some of you can join in. If you aren't familiar with Larry Penn, he is cut from the same cloth as Utah Phillips.   A terrific storyteller with a wonderful gift for songwriting.
