Lyr Req: Anna Marie

I was asked recently for the 'foreign bit' of the old Jim Reeves song Anna Marie and I had to admit that, despite having thrashed it out in many Glasgow pubs and clubs long years ago I didn't know the exact words.
Can anyone help?

And I'm gonna paste 'em in.......

ANNA MARIE
by Cindy Walker

Tonight while the snowflakes are falling
Here in my dreams I can see
The white cherry blossoms of ------*,
Where I walked with Anna Marie

CHORUS:
Anna Marie, Anna Marie,
My heart remembers and sighs
C'est vous, c'est vous, mi ami, beaucoup**
I miss you Anna Marie.

My love was pledged to another,
But I knew as I crossed the sea,
That I'd never loved any other
As I love my Anna Marie.

Repeat Chorus

(**= It's you, it's you, my love, very much)

ANNA MARIE
By JIM REEVES

Album: 20 GOLDEN GREATS

Tonight while the snow flakes are falling
Here in my dreams I can see
The white cherry blossoms are sure mine
For I walked with Anna Marie

Anna Marie
Anna Marie
My heart remembers and sighs
**Say-vu, say-vu (Say-vu, say-vu)
Mi-armi beaucoup (mi-armi beaucoup)
I miss you Anna Marie

My love was pledged to another
But I knew, as I crossed the sea
That I'd never love any other
As I loved my Anna Marie

Anna Marie
Anna Marie
My heart remembers and sighs
**Say-vu, say-vu (Say-vu, say-vu)
Mi-armi beaucoup (mi-armi beaucoup)
I miss you Anna Marie
(I miss you Anna Marie)

**--"say-vous" could be it's you, "mi-a(r)mi beacuop" is I love you very much)

Jim Reeves is definitely NOT singing the words 'are sure mine'

another mis-heard lyrics, apparently...

Interesting, though totally unrelated point. Infamous English serial killer Fred West named his first daughter Anna-Marie after this song. Just thought I'd chuck that in the mix. Oh, and by the way, the adjective for people from Scotland is "Scottish", not "Scotch" - "Scotch" only applies to whisky and then only in England....
drifter.

Well, I know a bit of French, and I've listened to the sound files and read the lyrics above. It seems that "Say-vu" could easily be "c'est vous" which means "it's you." However, "vous" is the plural or formal form of "you", and a fluent French speaker addressing his lover would certainly use the familiar singular form "tu" or maybe "toi"; I think "c'est toi" ("Say-twa") is grammatical.

I can't really make any sense out of "Mi ami beaucoup". If it's supposed to be French, it's ungrammatical no matter how you look at it. It is NOT "I love you very much"--that would be "je t'aime beaucoup" (pron. "zhe tem bo-koo"). "Mi ami" could be a distorted pronunciation of "m'amie", my friend/lover, but it would not be grammatical to add "beaucoup" as a modifier, "my friend/lover very much". One would more likely say "ma chère amie", "my dear friend/lover".

It sounds like he's saying "The white cherry blossoms of Shama,/Where..." but I haven't been able to identify Shama as a place name.
