Watch out smallpiper
my bodhran is stained with the blood of pipers who tell bodhran jokes. And I did go to the session just round the corner once - (dunno which one but the place had an X in the name). So earplugs at ten paces then - if and when.

No warpipes please, otherwise the audience will need to seek a(n) hostelery three counties away. But excellent news. the acoustics are great and diversification from jigs and reels is not totally unknown.

Shoite! I'm at a session in Topsham, Execeter this Tuesday, and would much sooner appreciate the fine architecture of Sandra. See y'awl next week, when hopefully I'll have me mum in tow.

Topsham is a nice place was there some years ago didn't know there was any sessions there. I asked the guy at the music shop and he told me that I must be mad thinking they'd have folk music in such a place! Have you used the ferry yet its fun - the women (three of them) I was with liked it so much they went back and forth 5 times! something to do with the harmonics set up in the hull by the engine - didn't understand it meself!

Should be there with Long Tom and his rendition of Nellie the Elephant and the runnaway Train, neither of which is treated with the respect to which they deserve. Incidently Oakley have fogged last two CARA cd's but MthePiper is keen to claim credit so am confused...more confused than usual.

I shall serenade you with a special Sireen song in honour of the momentous day- so open the window and listen for the sound wafting its way to you on the soft Humber breezes...

Well done Mr Acorn Sir - Ms Penny will be overcome with emotion and will drop her car stealing kit for you any time, I'm sure of it and that posh bounder won't have a leg to stand on.

Don't knock the Dagenham Girl Pipers in your dreams it could have been The City of Hull Pipe Band instead..........................

Mr Oakley, congratulations! Does this mean you will be slightly less insane from now on? And will the wearing of a suit during the week remove the bizarre compulsion to wear one during Punch the Horse gigs?

Thanks for acknowledging the fact that I am just so gifted. The insanity will continue undiminished until the 18th Novemeber, when I will become Mr. Sensible and start posting only worthy and learned submissions to music threads. Shit, I have just accidentally glued myself to a tram. Bugger.

Congratulations to Mr O, the new man in the city. If the new job is to do with drains I bet the address helped!   Does this mean that you will practice the fiddle less and therefore slow down, giving other poor buggers a chance? And will you be around evenings for sessions or posted to Hemel Hemstead or the dark side of the moon to sort problems there?

15 Oct 02 - 10:33 AM (#803549)
Subject: RE: Sloop Session (Barton) latest update
From: GUEST,Oakley

Eric, I will be flitting between my offices in Paris, Ilkeston and Banbury. My french counterpart is a fine Irish fiddler who claims to be influenced by the music of Michael Coleman. So little chance of a slow-down. I will be about a bit less often for a year or so, but you will be never far from my thoughts - or hearing come to that, as Paris is only 280 miles away and you have a newly acquired industrial set of alien pipes.

I promise that I'll arrive one day soon in Twillingsgate in my 2 litre Vauxhall Vectra, but will probably fail to convince Ms Penelope that the late string quartets of Hadyn wafting like Sireen's haunting, plaintive songs from the CD player are my favourite pieces and the car is not bloody well stolen.

I will buy you a beer tonight ET, but will expect a dozen back and a lift. I handed in my notice here today and things are a little frosty, I'm afraid.

Norris has volunteered to step into the breech, now that he has retired from the meals-on-wheels service,. Apart from being a spiv during the war, he was an accomplished dairyman in the sixties. Now he is able to tend both to Mrs Drinkall from number 21, and 18 fine Fresians. It puts the dairy into loss, but I couldn't be without them.

And I can't stand to be in the vicinity of that awful creep "Spunky" Joe the AI man from Malton, who labours under the mistaken belief that bull semen jokes are permanently funny. Norris does though.

Hi Gerry - thanks. I was convinced it was a tram, but when I looked again it was in fact a radiator. As you know, this is not the first time that I have confused the two.

Forgive me but I have to say it. The crap you people talk about on some of these threads makes me wonder do you have a life. You seem to have nothing to do but massage one's own ego.

With a few exceptions, many of you seem in reality to suffer from the wannabe syndrome - as in composers/musicians and singers of worth, very few of which you will actually find on a site like this, apart from the odd individual who now and again pops in and does offer some real information and facts that they are usually able to back up.

I rest my case.

Dear Stephen from Ireland

Please get you head out of your arse - perhaps what you don't understand is that a lot of the people who post to these threads know each other in 3d land. What they are talking about makes great sense to them if not to you. As for being wannabe's you should try listening to some of the stuff that these people produce - music and song of the highest and I mean highest calibre, the fact that they are eccentric aught to be some proof of that. These are facts that I and others can back up.

shit!!! hit the button to soon in my haste.

Good on yer smallpipes!!!!!!! this stephen sounds a right self rightous dork.Glad to say I have not met many like him(if any at all) in my many visits to gods own country and I have massaged my ego talked crap and sang many a song many times with many like minded people across there.

Steven dear boy,if talking crap makes me not have a life I would rather not have one.Talking crap, drinking bear and making music with ones chums-and damn fine music and chums at that, makes it all worth while some how.

I'll take a chance on the ego massage, maybe the lovely fragrent maggie could give me one if I crooned "maggie"while she was doing it.

Guessed, truns out I was only staying in Chedzoy, but went to a session t'other side of Cannington, that in turn was cancelled due to the flooding! So, 600 miles later, back in North Lincs, and having to go two miles to Goxhill to requite music lust.

Stephen, thank you for being brave and saying what a lot of folk feel. I constructively ask you to use the filters to avoid all this crap, and not get uselessly irate at 'in jokes'. These are good people, and they make good music, but behave a bit like Catholics in heaven.

Respectfully

Gary
