I was sure I read it on a poster featuring her and designed to inspire young girls. So what was I doing at night in a girls boarding school? Playing badminton at for the local club that's what! |

14 Oct 02 - 05:45 PM (#803053) Subject: RE: BS: Paula's Women's World Marathon Record From: wilco While eating breakfast this morning, I was scanning my son's "Sport's Illustrated," and the only article that was the least bit interesting was about Paula Radcliffe. The hard-nosed, cynical sports-writers here in the USA couldn't say enough nice things about her. It's a very inspirational article. The magazine is full of the usual male adolescent, testoserone driven stuff about american football, the US baseball world series, the opening of the new professional hockey season, etc. And the real story is about this phenomenol athlete, slight and unassuming, who is a superb role model. I hope they give her the cover next week. She deserves it. What a great story!!! |

She's just a delight: and a straight "A" student too (4 "A" grade A Levels and a first at Loughborough); that girl has clearly shown how to maximise potential, yes, a perfect role model. (And to round it all off she married an Irishman!) |
