BS: your best Halloween trick

I love Halloween! I always try to think up new tricks I can pull.
My best one so far was this,
I made a stuffed body with some cover-alls and I put a mask on it, with a wig and hat, boots and gloves and set it on a chair at a local tavern about a week before Halloween.
All week people were checking it out. Dancing with it, playing with it, as a matter of fact, the night before Halloween someone decided to borrow it, and they brought it over to a local cops house, and put it in his front yard.
The Plan;
My idea was to have people get used to it there and then on Halloween night I got into the costume and as people came in to the tavern, when they came by me I jumped at them or moved to freak them out. Anyway it was a success and I scared the hell out of many people.( Panic set in a little when they stole it, but they brought it back on time!)
So does anyone have any tricks up their sleeves they want to share?

I'm sure that we used to call it mischievous night in Leeds when I was a boy, and used to knock on peoples doors and run away ,or put treacle on door handles, or throw bangers at other gangs who were coming to raid our bonfire chumps (chumping was what we called collecting bonfire wood). I dread the evening now it's been taken over by the Trick or Treaters, Anyone feel the same?

Mischievous Night is the 4th November (the night BEFORE Bonfire Night!!) Im from Selby and it was always called Micky Night. On Halloween we used to go 'trick or treating' then 4 days later we could do it all again but without having to dress up!!!

My best one was....
Shortly after I had lost a finger (unfortunate accident with a ring).... I made a replica out of potato, and used makeup to give it flesh tone & make it realistic. Then I put the new finger where the old used to be - just lightly holding it in place by pressure of the neighbouring fingers. I dressed very conservatively in black & proceeded to the halloween party at the pub.
I spent the evening shaking hands with strangers, leaving the finger in their hands........
It was a moment of rare subtlety for me.

When the kids come to the door I bring out a large tin of bird seed which I tell them is the ground up bones of people who came to visit me and that all their valuables and jewlery are in the tin. If they are brave enough to put their hand in the tin they can keep what they find.
I put in some sweets (usually false teeth and Ghost figures) ,coins and a few silly little toys from christmas crackers.
Helps if you dress up as a bit of a ghoul yourself.
The kids love it and its a bit of fun.

I was asked to finish off half his Halloween song that JD had written so he could sing it at the Somer's FC in an hour or so on one Oct 30th night.
I decided it was just too difficult and but was stung into action when I realised I didn't have a Halloween song and wrote a whole one for myself - inside the hour.

Sorry JD.

4 or 5 guys can lift and turn a vw bug to be parked sideways inside a garage. Leaves an air of mystery.

I loved pranks as a kid and still do...this was one of my best....and its musical.

Tie a thick piece of cotton wrapping twine through a hole punched in the edge of a cut/flat tin can that is about one inch wide and four inches long...and easily bendable.

Thoroughly Rosin the string with violin/cello/or bass rosin.

Slip the metal between the middle slats (outside the house) of a window in the neighborhood. Using tension on the string and your rosined fingers....play an unearthly sound through the entire house with the window glass acting as the sounding board.

The same attached to a whole tin can makes a protable noise maker but without the resonant quality of the entire window.

Have FUN!! Be Safe!

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

I should be ashamed, and if I had one ounce of respectability, I would be. We used to sew together a hhoded sweatshirt, pair of pants, and some canvas tennis shoes. Then we would stuff them with rags, to make the thing look like a body. Then, on Halloween, we would get up in a tree over the street, or sometimes on the roof of a house. We would drop the "body" down, with a rope around its neck. Once we threw it into the street, in traffic. (I hope the statute of limitations has expired.) I hope my children never try any of that stuff!!!

We used to do a variation on the standard "Apple Bobbing". The victim would be shown a bowl with the floating apples. They would then be blindfolded, while this was happening the bowl would be switched for a chamber pot with yellow-dyed water and an old cigarette end and couple of pieces of bog-paper (just for effect) as well as the apples.
You can imagine the effect when the blindfold was removed ! Needless to say the piss-pot had been bought new and never used for it's intended purpose - in fact it was often used as novelty punch-bowl at other parties.

There is also another trick where you announce that you are going to hypnotise people. the victim is taken into a room with a table and only a single candle for light on it. The victim sits down at the table with the candle between them and the "hypnotist". In front of each is a dining plate. The victim is told to copy the moves that the hypnotist makes. This includes picking up the plate and staring at it and running a finger around the back of the plate and then around the face. Of course the victim's plate has been held over the candle flame first and is coated with soot, with which the victim has been unwittingly drawing designs on their face.

I am not by nature a prankster. I giggle too much. I enjoy hearing about others' mischief, howvever. :-)

One of my favorite stories was on Prairie Home Companion a number of years ago. Some of the Lake Wobegon boys set Pastor Ingqvist's outhouse afire, not realizing he was in it at the time.

I keep hoping they'll rerun this one...

Take the same VW bug. With three people, raise the vechicle and set the rear axle on a milk-crate.

The wheels are now 1/2 inch off the ground. It looks to be normal, but the wheels will spin.

Sincerely,

Mischief night has always held a special place in my heart.

There was a horse farm near our development. A day or so earlier, we kids would go and collect some droppings and put them in a paper sack. This would then be put in a paper sack before a neighbor's door. It was then lit and the bell rung. When the neighbor opened the door and saw the fire, the natural thing was usually to stomp it. Enjoy.

My mother was a teacher. One year, we heard that some kids were coming from her school to "egg" our house. I stood outside in the shadows and watched about 6 of them approach. When I judged they were close enough, I intoned in my most ghoulish baritone "I wouldn't do that if I were you." They took off and did not come back that night.

an aquaintance told me how he was constantly harassed around this time of year by children 'trick or treating'.

his solution was when the next lot of kids came around, he'd wrapped up a used baby's disposable nappy. he gave the parcel to them saying 'now don't open it until you get home!'- sick, eh!

they never came to his house again though.

I am sitting here laughing. The pumkin out the ass is a pretty good trick. King Brilliant yours was pretty good too.Gargoyle, I'm going to try your music maker out.
I had a Haloween party one time and instead of bobbing for apples I bought a bunch of those little shot bottles of assorted booze and we dunked for those.
I came up with a good drink for parties too if you like pumpkin pie. You cook your pumpkin and make it like you would a pie only I left out the egg. Then mix it in a blender with rum and ice. Top it with whipped cream. It's not bad. Tastes like cold pie with a buzz.

Not that I have ever done this, and it seems a real safety hazzard but take some dog poo and put it in a paper bag, place it on the front stoop, light the bag and ring the bell. The hope is the person inside will stomp on the bag to put it out.

The reason I remeber this is from a SNL skit where Martha Stewart gives tips on Halloween decorating and she says "Nothing saya Halloween like a flaming bag of poo!"
