We've lived with that kind of democracy for ages - in Eastern Europe during the Cold War, in South and Central America, in Africa, in Asia, in Europe, I'm sure ... and I seem to remember something about the last presidential elections in a small country called the United States! Mind you, I'm not defending Saddam's regime - all I'm trying to say is how these things are looked at and used is not so much a matter of principle for our governments, rather of political expediency! |
