21 Oct 02 - 09:04 PM (#808178) Subject: BS: Photos and Profiles From: Jerry Rasmussen I've been thoroughly enjoying Mudchat (even though I just got kicked off)and getting to know everyone. It seems like there's a lot of time asking people, "Where are you from, again?" Of course, if my memory was better, I'd keep everyone straight. I've got assiebloke and John From 9Hull down pat now, but those who I don't run into very often tend to get all mixed up in my mind. Now that I finally learned how to e-mail photos, I've put my mug shot and profile on Mudcat, and would encourage others to do it and don't procrastinate, like I did. Even without a photo, I'd enjoy reading everyone's profiles.. Help someone whose memory isn't what it used to be. Jerry |

23 Oct 02 - 08:09 AM (#809148) Subject: RE: BS: Photos and Profiles From: Jerry Rasmussen Hello, Aussiebloke: Glad you took my typographic error in good humor. As you might imagine, my last name gets misspelled in endless variations. One of the most imaginative that I get is Rasmuffin. Now, I suppose that if the R was left off, I might have a more serious problem with it. I'm going to be especially careful in typing your name in the future. Are you in the profile and photo section? That was my purpose for starting this thread... not to come up with a comical misspelling of your name... although everyone has had fun with it.. Jerry |

He has a voice that is about twice as big as he is!! Just funning with you Jerry - Steve |

I'm going to keep an eye out for it now that you mentioned it, since I've talked with you several times in the MudChat. 24 Oct 02 - 01:42 PM (#810312) Subject: RE: BS: Photos and Profiles From: GUEST,53- glenda, at work Who is "53" Bob and I both use this as our Mudcat byline. I try to include a g or my full name when I write. We live in South Carolina near Myrtle Beach. Perhaps we should put up our photos too? I don't know. The 53 started as a nickname Bob gave me almost 20 years ago because I was born in 1953... Long story. Bob and I sorta bumped into each other again in 1998, and - single again - we renewed our friendship and have married. I work as an administrative specialist in a cooperative extension office. Bob is a "retired" rhythm guitarist on disability who does some guitar lessons when he can. I was a good student for a long time but have not been playing any lately. Shame on me. g |

24 Oct 02 - 02:05 PM (#810330) Subject: RE: BS: Photos and Profiles From: Genie Well, I've had a photo in the Photos section for a while now, but a few days ago I finally broke down and sent in some info for the Profiles section, with a couple of other pics. I'd imagine it may take a bit of time for Jeff to get new stuff formatted and posted, as that can be time consuming, and sometimes folks have other things to do besides tending to Mudcat business (e.g., work, spend time with family, etc.). art, I don't think the membership info we send in is ever posted in the Profiles section unless we specifically authorize that -- which is, I think, the way it should be. In other words, when we join Mudcat, we don't have to reveal our real identities to the Mudcat membership unless we choose to. But I like that asterisk idea, Mrs. Lemon -- or maybe put a "date posted" after each person's name in the Profiles section. Genie |

24 Oct 02 - 03:19 PM (#810372) Subject: RE: BS: Photos and Profiles From: Geoff the Duck Mrs Lemon - I find that part of the fun of the Photos pages is to re-visit them at intervals and find out just who I have got to know better - whether through the Mudchat or Paltalk or just corresponding within obscure threads. I often find that I recognise the photo as one I have previously looked at, but at the time I didn't know the person in the same way, so viewing the photo hadn't previously had any particular meaning or purpose other than my own curiousity. I would personally find an asterisk at the side of every picture I have viewed to be intrusive and counter productive. Quack! GtD (Not yet in the Members photo section, but appearing at UK events) |

Jeff does all the work as his gift to Mudcat, and we can never be reminded of that, too much. I only figured out how to send photos a month ago when my oldest son stopped by the house and figured out how to do it. I'm glad you've submitted a profile, though. Now that I am in computer kindergarten and can e-mail photos, if you want to go through the nuisance of sending me a photo you can spare, I'd be glad to e-mail it to Jeff. There was one "GUEST" post recently, with the same caustic tone characteristic of "that GUEST," which said something about "my husband" or something like that. |

08 Nov 02 - 07:43 PM (#821884) Subject: RE: BS: Photos and Profiles From: McGrath of Harlow GUEST is a sort of collective persona, and people who choose to post as GUEST without any kind of handle are surely abdicating their individuality, and being absorbed into the collective. A bit like the Borg. "Resistance is futile" as they always say, just before exploding in a shower of fireworks. Females can be fellas, I'm sure. I couldn't see anything in the dictionary definition I just checked (using the posh spelling as "fellow") that required you have to be male to merit the term. |
