Best Webcam view site (clean)?

53's weather thread prompted one Webcam site suggestion. I have a number of them connected to condors and stuff like that, just because I am interested in endangered species. Anyone have any really interesting Webcam sites that they can share? (seriously). I was looking for one of the Paris skyline the other day without success.

yours, Peter T.

To to http://www.gomontana.com then click on the web cam link on the left side menu, then go to the controllable sky cam... Lots of mountain shots.

By the way, if you go to the sky cam/weather cam you will be looking at the town where I live and the mountains above us.

This site has links to coastal webcams from Maine south.

My personal favorite is Cape Porpoise because I used to live there.

Linn, I like that giant Ocean Tank cam at the link you posted... watching fish swim by right now.

When babies are in season, CAT TALES has a cam linked to the play area. We've spent many a delightful afternoon watching the last batch of baby tigers learning to 'hunt'.

Another great cam, but no so great since the loss of Moja, is the chimp cams at the CHCI

Alice, I really enjoy the big tank at the New England Aquarium, too -- but I have to remember to go there during daylight or you can't see anything! Frustrating when I don't have any "fun time" at the computer until late in the evening.

Sorry, Pete, can't be arsed to find it, but there is a webcam at the top of the Humber Bridge, on both piers (It used to be the longest suspension bridge in the world), so you can see the world as jOhn from Hull9 sees it. Perhaps not.

This cam won't do anyone any good until Spring. Then the mated bald eagles will be back in their nest above the Connecticut River where they will mate, the egg(s) will be laid, the little ones will hatch, grow, fledge and be off and on their own-----all in time to do it all again next year. I've printed some great pics from this site that chronicle a year in the lives of these magnificent birds. I almost feel like I'm a member of the family.

You reminded me to go take a look at one of my favorites--the BLM office in Fairbanks, Alaska.

One I used to enjoy visiting was Africam. You have to logon now; parts of it cost money. I haven't been there in ages, but I took a look now and see they've added lots of sites. In Africa this is a good time of year for taking a peek at wildlife via cam because they are more certain to visit the wateringholes where the cameras are set up.

The Old Faithfull webcam is fun. Ely, Minnesota has a virtual tour of the town (it is the gateway to the Boundary Waters area) and they have a Raven cam and a wolf cam. These are near Moose lake which also has a webcam. There used to be one in New York city but I haven't seen it since 9/11 and I don't think that it was at the WTC, it just hasn't been available. There is also one which shows the fog rolling in (and out again) in San Francisco Bay. Gargoyle is right, these webcams can make you homesick. Another one I like is the Sturgis, South Dakota live cams (there are three and one pans back and forth, albeit slowly) They are in downtown Sturgis and viewable even at night. Right now Sturgis has snow and the streets look very cold and deserted, quite a contrast from this August when 650,000 bikers attended the 62nd Black Hills Rally!

My Favorite:

Annapolis City Dock

It's located at the Historic Annapolis Foundation, on the second floor. The view changes every 10 seconds, so when I go to Annapolis, I set my machine at home to capture the pictures. I stand where I know I'll be seen by the webcam, make note of the time, and when I get home, VOILA! I have a free portrait of myself on City Dock!

I thought I should bring this thread back to the top with this one: LOON CAM. Here is a live cam of a loon nesting.

The Mount St. Helens VolcanoCam

"This is an image of Mount St. Helens, taken from the Johnston Ridge Observatory. The Observatory and VolcanoCam are located at an elevation of approximately 4,500 feet, about five miles from the volcano. You are looking approximately south-southeast across the North Fork Toutle River Valley."

You'll have front row seats when it blows again.

St. John's Harbour

St. John's, Newfoundland (Canada). Just now when I looked in, I saw a big old iceberg floating in the harbour. In the site, they say sometimes, if you have a really sharp eye, you can see humpback whales.

This view of Yosemite Valley is my favorite. I go to it almost daily.

Looks like a little smog problem right now though.

Great idea for a BS thread.
Here's one of my favourites although it's dark there right now (20.22 GMT.)http://www.sunplus.com/fuji/livee.htm
Another one is for all Loch Ness Monster hunters try here http://www.camvista.com/scotland/highlands/ness01.php3
Finally how about the Cuillins just about 5 miles down the road from here http://www.camvista.com/scotland/scenic/skye.php3
Once again it's getting dark now but worth looking at in the morning.
Keep them coming!
