German composer Norbert Schultze died this month at the age of 91. He composed the song "Lili Marleen," which became the best-known song of World War II. Here's a report that was on All Things Considered this evening CLICK HERE.

When we talk about leaving something of value behind, this man is an example to think of. One absolutely perfect song is all it takes. I know he did more than that, but I would be willing to bet that one will be floating over the airwaves 100 years hence.

Find the original version by Lale Anderson, 1939. This is the one the soldiers overseas, as well as the Germans listened to.
