26 Oct 02 - 08:15 AM (#811814) Subject: Sloop Session Barton - URGENT From: GUEST,Bloke in the Corner The Sloop in Barton, North Lincs will be CLOSED Tuesday 29th October, so no session there, I'm afraid. I don't know when it will reopen, but will keep all posted on developments. I've spoken to the landlord of the Carnival Inn, he's happy to have us there and will provide sandwiches (conspicuously absent from the Sloop the last few weeks) The bar is a bit big and the acoustics aren't as good (The Sloop's very bareness is what makes it sound so good) but I know the pub well and the welcome will be warm. The Carnival is on Tofts Road in Barton, just take the third road on the right (Tofts Road) when coming down the hill into the town. The Carnival is a big pub on the right. 26 Oct 02 - 02:04 PM (#811924) Subject: The Sloop Barton From: KJ Just got back from The Sloop, very nice, cheap drinkies 'cos they,re leaving, so a good afternoon/evening was had!! However, bad news, Sandra & Rob still don't know if anyone is taking over the place,so looks like next Tuesday's session is off. Keep you posted. |

27 Oct 02 - 06:36 AM (#812314) Subject: RE: Sloop Session Barton - URGENT From: KJ Knew you'd sort something Laurie, we'll be there no doubt. Does this pub have proper beer? |
27 Oct 02 - 06:42 AM (#812319) Subject: RE: Sloop Session Barton - URGENT From: Oaklet "Well it might be bloody warm, but at least it doesn't have any bubbles in it!" is the plaintive cry from the landlord at the Carnival. It is also abitiously priced. I will see you there! |
27 Oct 02 - 07:15 AM (#812329) Subject: RE: Sloop Session Barton - URGENT From: GUEST,Bloke in the Corner The Carnival's an altogether nicer boozer than the Sloop, EXCEPT for the acoustics - Stella Artois, nicely chilled, at least one guest bitter, and though I personally don't touch the Devil's brew, I understand from the pathetic drunks who inhabit the place that the beer is always in good nick. It is a few coppers more than the Sloop, but the atmosphere is very welcoming. Oakers, stop slagging off the wallop, you invariably spike whatever you're drinking with Brasso anyway, and therefore have no idea if its good, bad or ugly. Skippy, what's this about a special session next Saturday? Come on back to me and let me know what's what! |
27 Oct 02 - 07:37 AM (#812345) Subject: RE: Sloop Session Barton - URGENT From: Oaklet Brasso indeed!! I belong to CAMRAT - the Campaign for Real Thinners, as well you know, you lurking type of person you. I'll be there, dinking out of a bottle in a paper bag. |

27 Oct 02 - 08:31 AM (#812372) Subject: RE: Sloop Session Barton - URGENT From: Oaklet Sorry, I have been dinking Emva Cream. You should see the Hull-spelling on the Mudchat, Gerry! Paint is not yet avaliable here. We stick to wattle and daub, reinforced with bodily secretions. Any news on the rash? Are you off to Wooton next week? |

27 Oct 02 - 08:57 AM (#812401) Subject: RE: Sloop Session Barton - URGENT From: KJ Aaaah bodily secretions, right up my street. I have a good recipe that makes things stick to each other, far better than cow-dung. What's this rash like? I'm into rashes 'Green Grow the Rashes Oh'. |
27 Oct 02 - 09:03 AM (#812405) Subject: RE: Sloop Session Barton - URGENT From: Skipjack K8 Whilst we're in session cancelling mode, would it be cunning to besprout the Nag's Head at Wootton next Sunday? I know our reputation for excellence spreads at least to the other side of the duck pond, but Bloke in the Corner and myself are orf to support some struggling starters in Brigg. They haven't thought of a name yet, so go out as Bain and Cunningham, who follow a group of sensible people who are going to set fire to violins, presumably in the name of art. |

Bloke in't Corner thinks he will let us have the session there, so fingers crossed, it's game on at the Sloop. Any chance of Bill and Sam poling up? |
