We heard a parody about a dog that ate cement-bag paper, and thus became constipated.(Sung at Whittlebury about 3 years ago) Anybody got the lyrics?

Glen and Tim

Can you remember who sang it?

I've heard one where the premise is that the owner has taken the collie out for a walk and after a very lengthy, non-productive walk, begs:
"Will ye go, Lassie, go?" I thought that was in the forum, but I haven't found it yet. (If you type in "Lassie" you get tons of hits, and the threads I've found on "will ye go, lassie" seem all to be about the "Wild Mountain Thyme" song.

I'd love the words to that one, if anyone can direct me to them.

The Kippers' Wild Mounting Time is in the DT, and referenced at the top of this thread.
But it doesn't match the request.

And lets not forget the obligatory hand gestures.

Nope, it isn't the Kipper's "Will I get bloomin Heather?" and I think it was Reg Crawford who sang it at Whittlebury, but I'm not certain.

The only dog one I've heard is the one with the chorus:

Will ye go, lassie, go
Away from the "Peking Swallow"
For if you don't go now,
We'll be eating you tomorrow.

Can't remember verses, but I can find the bloke who sang it.

MMario posted this in another thread:

"Oh the night is dark and stormy
and stay by the fire I ought-a
but I've yet
to walk my collie
and she needs to pass her water!
will ye go, lassie, go.

For Three hours now I'm waiting
Icy cold and shiver-shaking
She's examined
every grass-blade
And she's yet to take a squat-a
will ye go lassie go!

(first time I heard this there was a dog in the audience...
every time "Will ye go lassie go" was sung the dog would give a single
bark. Had the entire place in tears!)"

Another excerpt gleaned from a previous thread:

"With my collie I did stroll
all upon the blooming heather
But my collie didn't piddle,
though we walked for half an hour
Will ye go, Lassie, go..."

If it was sung in the barn at Whittlebury you could try asking Bob & Barbara Brown if they can let you have the recording. Although they only produce 2 tapes from each year's weekend they record, catalogue and archive the entire weekends singing in the barn. If it was in one of the impromptu bits in the food sheds although they don't normally record that stuff it may still be worth asking as they tend to remember who sings what and have contact addresses for most people that attended.

The 'Peking swallow' parody was written by Les Barker and can be found on his tape 'Dogolgue'.

It just show how long it is since I looked at Mudcat! I'm pretty sure the dog who swallowed cement was from the pen of the amazing Ron Shuttleworth. Tim & Glen, try asking him next weekend.
