28 Oct 02 - 03:23 PM (#813140) Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Down? Click Here From: Uncle_DaveO Click there NOW. When you get there (assuming Windows) do Control D. This will put it in your bookmarks for future reference. Dave Oesterreich |

28 Oct 02 - 04:03 PM (#813192) Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Down? Click Here From: McGrath of Harlow Ctrl + D ? I didn't know that. But I generally stick things in a folder in favourites, and the Annexe is in one marked Mudcat, along with a few other relevant sites, such as the Songbook and the bHelp Forum. And of course folkinfo.org. |
28 Oct 02 - 04:12 PM (#813197) Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Down? Click Here From: MMario ctrl-D would be hold down the control (or ctrl) key while pressing the "D" key. browser dependent. What he meant was "bookmark/put into favorites" so you can get to it again later. |

28 Oct 02 - 10:51 PM (#813379) Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Down? Click Here From: GUEST Don't know who the guest was who gave the link but the Annexe has been having trouble all day (and IMO has not been on the best of form for a couple of weeks)... I've temporarily moved the site over to the folkinfo server and (ISP willing) hope to restore sometime tommorow... The safest URL to give for the Annexe is just http://www.jonbanjo.com/forum. That way, on (very rare) occasions where things like ODBC or ASP crash and it looks like it will be some time before matters will be resolved and I feel it necessary to try to move to the backup (takes me about 30 mins with my dial up connection just to transfer the current db...). At least I can put a temp page up - in this case index.htm will load and point to the move - and avoid things like Mr Ramussens amusement (although I see his humour). Jon |
29 Oct 02 - 02:57 AM (#813421) Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Down? Click Here From: Liz the Squeak I must admit, I was a little bemused as I had trouble getting in last night... if I can't get in, how do I click? Anyway... I bookmarked a similar thread last year and added it to my favourites.. Records would indicate I've been a frequent visitor to it, so it goes down as THE most useful thread ever devised. Thank you. 29 Oct 02 - 12:12 PM (#813667) Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Down? Click Here From: GUEST All's running fine sorcha. I took it down for about 20 minutes (with a notice up at jonbanjo.com/forum) to restore it back to the proper server. Perhaps you caught that. Jon |

06 Jun 11 - 01:09 AM (#3165783) Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Down? Click Here From: Janie No, we don't have to face the face. Just have to wait occasionally for things to get sorted out and Mudcat to get back up. Facebook is handy to check and see if Max has posted something about the problem on the rare times Mudcat is down, but that doesn't bring the Mudcat back up. I don't find the Facebook group a good substitute. Too many narcissistic posts complaining rancorously that this free and resourceful site doesn't suit them to a tee. The timbre of many of those posts are entitled, manipulative and sophomoric. Grates too much on me to want to do more than check in quickly when the 'Cat does go down to see if there is some estimate from Max of when it might be up again. |
06 Jun 11 - 03:27 AM (#3165815) Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Down? Click Here From: John MacKenzie I am on Facebook, but I won't join the Mudcat group, for much the same reasons as stated by Janie. To me, the beauty of FB, is the ability to choose whom you talk/interact with. There are too many people with small minds, and big agendas on Mudcat. |

06 Jun 11 - 11:05 PM (#3166293) Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Down? Click Here From: ChanteyLass I had trouble getting onto Mudcat during the weekend. I was using my computer plugged into phone lines and kept getting a message that my phone company could not find the site. However at a wifi hotspot, I could get on, so I sent a PM to Joe Offer who said it could be due to changes Max had just made and I should be able to get on again in a few days, which is what happened. I am a Facebook Friend of Mudcat but didn't see a post about this on my Wall and didn't think to go to Mudcat's page to see if it had information. Next time I will do that. |

07 Jun 11 - 04:53 PM (#3166699) Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Down? Click Here From: bobad The Mudcat page on Facebook is a good resource for when Mudcat goes down, Max is quick to post the reason for it being down and let's you know when it should be back up. It's social networking people, nothing to be afraid of. |
