Greetings all,

We've been looking for Shel Silverstein's song "Whistlers & Jugglers." Believe it or not, even though Waylon Jennings recorded it in 1978, no one seems to have the lyrics on a website. Please help.

Shel Index doesn't have anything I recognize, but the "titles" are just "filenames" so you might recognize something I didn't. Example: Put Another Log on the Fire is just "log.htm."

Someday I plan to "reindex" this site so I'll know what they've got.

It's on Makin' A Mess: Bob Gibson Sings Shel Silverstein, Asylum Records, CD 61697-2 that has been available fairly rcently (according to my index list).

No way to predict how long it may take to find the CD in my pile, though.

WHISTLERS & JUGGLERS
(Shel Silverstein)

You take the lady...I'll take the lesson
I can't say that anyone's...Doin' me wrong
Cause I allways knew....That the girl had a weakness
For whistlers and jugglers....and singers of songs

Now she was a child...Back when I first met her
And the woman inside her...Was just bein' born
And I knew she'd come with me...Cause she had a fever
For whistlers and jugglers...and singers of songs.

And the whistler will whistle her...A song she can dance to
And jugglers will cheer her...When she starts to cry
The singer will sing her.....A bed of red roses]
Where she might let you....lie by her side

She'll laugh in the face...of the wealthy and famous
And you'll never lose her..To the handsome or strong
But all of your life son...Watch over your shoulder
For whistlers and jusgglers...and singers of songas..

Repeat the chorus..........Frank of Toledo

...and Shell borrowed my guitar to sing a few songs for Bob Gibson the night B.G. threw his own wake-----a party at the North Shore Sheraton Hotel in Chicago----so he could hear old friends sing one more time. He could feel the flame being blown out---I'm almost sure. A week later to the day after that all night sing, Bob passed away in his sleep. I'm truly glad I was there.
