Selling a melodeon

I have a melodeon for sale, as well as a violin. I have had NO luck with the free ads, or work notice boards or the like. I'm not trying to hawk them on mudcat, but was more wondering if anyone had any practical ideas. I live in England, but don't really want, for example, to lug both up to London to Hobgoblin to get offered £2.50 for them both!

So, any practical advice welcomed!

Paul

So where do you live?

Any folk clubs in your area?

What make is the melodeon, how many rows, what tuning, and is your fiddle a Stradivarius?!

I know of a good home for a one row in D,and also possibly an Eflat Bflat if the price was right

You mght want to try eBay.

First, however, go to eBay.com and do a search for what you're selling. This will give you an idea of what people are asking for similar istruments.
Next, go to the left hand column and click on "completed." This wil tell you what people have actualy paid for same.

If this shows that you can sell your instrunents for what you want, you need to register. You will need a credit card number et al. In the old days eBay would bill you, but the volume they work in precludes this amenity.

If you choose this route, I will be happy to help you with the listing details. You can contact me at: tomhall7@yahoo.com.

Don't tell Manitas.....

I was hoping this thread was asking if we were selling.... I've got a house full of them, and he only uses one, two at the most... he probably wouldn't even notice they were missing...

Ah well, better luck next time.

I used www.netinstruments.com to sell a high quality oboe for a friend of mine. Using an escrow feature, it is safe and easy. It is an international site. It deals only in instruments and is much better than using ebay.

What is the Melodeon? How much? In which region do you live? . So many questions unanswered:-)

Sorry not to have responded sooner. Things have been hectic round here...

It's a B/C Parrot (I think), in a box with a strap. My brother bought it for me a while ago and I just can't get into playing it, despite my efforts.

Hobgoblin advertise one for £155 2nd hand, so that's the kind of figure I'm thinking of. Although to be honest it's just sat at home as I don't even know anyone I can lend it to!

The violin is a Poller, comes with a case and bow. It's in good condition, set up, re-strung and ready to roll. I'd be interested in any ideas as to suitable prices.

I live near Basingstoke in Hampshire.

Thanks for the advice offered. I'll have a look at the websites and see what they suggest. I didn't intend trying to hawk this stuff here, however anyone interested drop me a line..

If sold through the cat I will, of course, donate some cash.

Thanks again.

Any chance that you can post a photo of the melodeon?

Just a quick update on this. Some time after placing a picture onto
http://www.netinstruments.com/ I am in the final stages of selling the instrument. An apparently nice bloke, called Ben, has patiently dealt with me via e-mail and will be paying me a suitable sum with half the postage.
So thanks for all your help. I've got a result.
