05 Nov 02 - 10:05 AM (#818988) Subject: Johnny Cash on NPR & looking for songs From: katlaughing What a great performer! Johnny Cash turned 70 back in February. They had him on Morning Edition this morning at www.npr.org. The archive will be available after midnight. He will also be on tomorrow morning. Quite an inspiration. One of the things they talked about was a new CD he has coming out and his always looking for new songs. He's performed over 1500 songs and said if it sounded good and he thought he could do it, then he was interested. This website has info about his new CD along with some great audio clips which play in the background: legacy records.com. Enjoy! kat |

Johnny Cash's recent recordings, including "American IV: The Man Comes Around," which was released today, are on the American Recordings label. I was glad to find out that I was wrong. That bit about his bassist hand heal slapping the bass guitar was pretty nifty, I'll have to try that. |

06 Nov 02 - 10:34 AM (#819909) Subject: RE: Johnny Cash on NPR & looking for songs From: GUEST,truckerdave I heard that piece also this morning. Uh, folks, i hate to mention it but 'ol Johnny is getting pretty old and in bad health and he don't really sound too good anymore. Johnny Cash held me when i was a baby. Think he'd remember me and want to record one of my songs? I really don't know why he was holding me, i think everyone was just sitting around and someone handed me to Johnny to hold while they went to get a beer or something. Just kidding, my uncle hosted? arranged? one of his first public performances after they got out of broadcasting school, back in the early 50's before anyone had ever heard of Johnny Cash. |
