No Telephones in Heaven

There is a recording of this tune by the Carter Family. I don't happen to have the CD or LP handy, but I have a tape -- no lyrics. Does anyone have the words? I can figure out most of it, but I can't make the chorus sound like anything but "My child emerged a pervert/ and told the ancient trout..."

I know they had something else in mind. I laugh hysterically when I hear it. I've played it for several people but no one around here can seem to make sense of it either.

I've tried a couple of different searches, but haven't turned anything up.

Any help is appreciated.

Nore, I read the chorus as:

My child the merchant murmered
as he stroked her anxious brow
No telephone connection
where your mother's living now

No telephone in heaven!
and a tear sprung in her eye
I thought that god had everything
with him up in the sky

The "story" seems to consist of a small girl and a baby boy going into a store to have the merchant ring up their mother who has recently died and is in heaven to ask her to come back.

It doesn't seem to be on the database and when I get a chance to listen to my tape of it, I will post the complete lyrics as I hear them (unless somebody has a more authoratative version than I will get with my ear.)
