BS: phones in Hull

Subject: phones in Hull
From: GUEST,Fed up with ull

I was always under the impression that the greatest privatley owned phone system was in Hull, so why don't them from Hull use it and stop blocking up Mudcat with things that they who live in the locality can phone through to each other.

It's against the law to discriminate against them from 'ull on the grounds that they've suffered enough

I am thinking of starting a thread for Guests only where they can slag off regular Mudcat users to each other. Then just like those who avoid threads that contain references to anything with Hull, ull or 9 in the title, I can make a point of ignoring it!

Fancy a pint in Oddfellows at about 8pm Greg? I could PM Dodgy and have a couple of pints waiting when we walk thru the door!

I could telephone the other 50 Hull Mudcatters individually and see if anyone wants to join us? Let you know in about 12 Hours when I have finished phoning them all.

I came across an old thread the other day in which John9 welcomed a Guest From Hull to the Mudcat with the words 'that makes three of us'!

I'M SO CONFUSED!!!!!

I opened a thread the other day called "Outsider in Hull" expecting it to be about someone not-from-Hull visiting Hull and it turned out it was about a band named "Outsider". And a while back there was one called "Hamsters in Hull" that I thought would be about John9's hamster and it was about a band named "Hamsters". So I see this thread called "Phones in Hull" and expect it to be about a band named "Phones" and it's about real telephones. Make up your minds, please!

And then there are the "Not in Hull" threads as well. First "PTH at ----- in Hull" and then "PTH NOT in Hull". And "Eliza Carthy in Hull" and then "Eliza Carthy NOT in Hull". Will there be a "Phones NOT in Hull" thread tomorrow?

Yours with tongue placed firmly in cheek,

Bruce aka BWL

Guest you seem to have upset one or two here with your thread,I have wondered the same from time to time ,but Mudcat is an open forum where everyone within reason can contribute, and have fruitful stimulating banter,it would be better if you joined the fraternity, where you could be identified (nearly everyone uses a psudnym) for what you believe or percieve, equaly people in the fraternity could listen to what possibly a bona fida guest who uses or contributes regularly is saying. If any one would like to come round and smash my computer for my views then it's time for them, not me to leave mudcat, it is an open forum where all views should be and can be heard. I'll get of me soapbox now

I have no animosity for the people from Hull. Those few I know are very fine people and great musicians. The more often I see them the better. I have no objection to the number of posts or the content. That's completely up to them/you.

But I dislike the number of threads because that interferes with my reading of the forum.

I've said it once in a mocking tone but I mean it seriously: Make for instance one single PTH thread that is edited by a Hull member who deletes from time to time the obsolete posts and you can read each day anew where to go when you want to avoid or enjoy PTH. Make one edited 'Local people look here' thread for all the information or banter to exchange.

I guess there are other members who'd be as glad as I if all the local more or less hull talk was restricted to roughly two threads.

Wolfgang

It amazes me how people that don't like Hull threads start more hull threads, and refresh existing ones!

John, that's a stupid argument. I can't ask for the same number of Hull posts in less threads without posting. So your argument amounts to asking me not to post that wish.

It reminds me of when I was in a concert and some people near me talked too loud and I asked them to talk less or less loud they told me 'If you don't like talking why do you add to it?'

Wolfgang-My comments were not just aimed at you, although if you had not posted to this thread it would have died, but to the originator of the thread, if indeed it was a different person.

it's this totally new experience for me...sort of like Brigadoon or something.....I know I must go there someday...it sounds like a magical place full of fish and chip shops and pictures of the Queen and old cobblestones with an unfortunate side of toughs breaking into cars etc..... mg

John,
I don't post under different names

Smallpiper,
I said nothing in that moment, I walked over to them in the break and talked to them then. And since that was much later and they had stopped talking by then for a long time it was quite a polite talk.
