13 Nov 02 - 09:33 AM (#825136) Subject: Speaking of keyboards & brands From: pattyClink I didn't want to hijack katlaughings thread about her sister and the keyboards, but it reminded me, I am searching for a cheap keyboard that could be used for 4-part arranging. I have a cheapo one ($30 in a pawn shop) that is great for picking out melodies, and it will sound 2 notes in a chord at once, but the other (third and fourth) notes don't sound. Saw a cheapo keyboard in a store, lo, it did the same thing. It's like there's only two 'reeds' in there. How much do I have to spend to get a keyboad that will give me 4 notes? do I have to jump to the $200 and up category? And katl, if you would care to share the brand name of the people that are giving sis a break on her students keyboards, I'm sure they wouldn't mind. Might as well spend money with friends as enemies.... |

We have a Casio CTK-558(I know not the top of the line) that I bought, on sale, at Sam's Club a couple of years ago for about $135 and it has been fine. My brother has played excerpts from his piano concertos on it in order to make midis; lots of chords, etc. with no problem. I'll get back to you when I hear from my sister. Thanks, kat |

If anybody else wants to weigh in, smaller is better. Only use a couple octaves, love having a little board that can be used at the computer, in bed, in the car, wherever. |
