Come-All-Cats,

The next singaround / session at the Bull PH in Barton-le-Clay, Beds. MK45 4LL is on Monday 18th November from 8.30pm.

All acoustic instruments & voices very welcome at this cosy venue and we're always glad to see new faces :-)

It's held fortnightly to run in tandem with the music workshop which is hosted by the University of Luton on alternate Saturday mornings.

Come if you can - if not, the next one's on Monday 2nd December - pop it in your diaries! See you then.....

May you always have music

The Sloop sessioneers are hyperventilating now to get nicely worked up for an appearance soon, but not on the 18th.

Dear Oakleaf me old lettuce: Wonderful News from Hull *s* Will start lobbying for appropriate floorspace & bears just in case you guys make it down the A1 sometime. Obviously will lay in (not me personally you understand) stocks of Superglue & ask for the heating to be turned up for any naked bassoonists!

Piersy: Lovely to see that you guys are going to have more fun in the Shed on the 20th, I'll make a note in my diary! Am surprised by your mention of car parking & beer at the Comfort Hotel, where did you find that?

By the way, Anne Lister will be our headliner at the Comfort Hotel, St Albans tonight (15th November), come if you can, it's likely to be another fab evening with Breezy! (Piers - let me know if you need a flypast)

Next week at the Comfort Hotel (Friday 22nd November) I'll be trying to support George Papa-G who's our Headliner (Clive Rothwell supporting too!). George has been writing the most wonderful songs for the last 18 months or so, he's cut 3 cd's so far with another one due out in February (I can't wait). This man is really worth listening too, please come along if you can *s*

I was actually referring to the Sportsman, Croxley Green, nr Rickmansworth for the Friendly Earth Acoustic Club, as opposed to the Come Fart Hotel for venue, parking, beer, Good Music still applies though.

Would love a flypast, cheers mate!

When's the next session at the Bushel & Strike?
Is it every month?
& if so, will it clash with the next Bull session on 2nd December?

Many thanks to all that came along last night

Hope to see all you others soon

You've all done very well

Here's that song I warbled last night

The Tuba Cat - (who was too butch and got thrown out of the local brass band)

There lived a /cat who /loved to /play              C           G        F        G
The /tuba /every /satur/day                      C         Am        F        G
While /other /cats would /mind their /ways    C    G        F        G
This /cat was /forced /to say                      C           F        C

Chorus
Oh, why don't they /love me /so                      G           F        C
I play so well, when I /play /solo            G           F        C
But the cat was too /butch                       C           Am
And the band said /no                              Am        G
So the cat played /on his /own                      F           G        C

The tuba /cat en/joys a good/ fight              C           G        F        G
Drinking and /farting /all the /night              C         Am        F        G
Talking about /football and /motorbikes              C           G        F        G
But the /band said, /that's not right              C           F        C

Chorus
Oh, why don't they /love me /so                      G           F        C
I play so well, when I /play /solo              G           F        C
But the cat was too /butch                      C           Am
And the band said /no                              Am        G
So the cat played /on his /own                      F           G        C

I've been thrown /out of the /local brass /band           C        G    F   G
They tell me it's /time to /make a /stand           C        Am   F        G
Your type of /cat is /not the right /brand           C        G    F        G
It's /hard to under/stand                           C        F        C

Chorus
Oh, why don't they /love me /so                      G           F        C
I play so well, when I /play /solo              G           F        C
But the cat was too /butch                      C           Am
And the band said /no                              Am        G
So the cat played /on his /own                      F           G        C

Well, what an outrageous evening that was!

Thanks to everyone for making it another hysterical Barton session, one for the hystery books! Thanks too for making the choice between those two songs for my spotette on Friday - Last of the Great Whales or Reynardine - both such wonderful songs, I really couldn't decide.

I'm amazed that Ross wrote that song about the Cat & the Tuba after Piersy's inspired thread & had it ready to sing by the time the session started. What a song-writer he is & what a catchy chorus!!

And as for Piersy's new 'goldfish song' (what's the title then?), well, that's a good singalong too, such talent! Though I think it's very sad that the real goldfish is so ill.

So - Ross, Piers - please post your lyrics & show these Cats the fun we're having in Barton.....

Ross, that song is hilarious, I am deeply impressed.

You'd remember if you were there, Ross. That was the night that the landlord bought everyone a drink, and Hilary become so intoxicated by an unaccustomed second half of lager shandy that she did a streak round the pub singing 'I've Got A Luvverly Bunch of Coconuts'. I'm surprised no-one mentioned it.
