Found in the Readers Digest Christmas Songbook:

How'd ja like to spend Christmas on Christmas Island?
How'd ja like to spend a holiday away across the sea?
How'd ja like to spend Christmas on Christmas Island?
How'd ja like to hang your stockin' on a great big coconut tree?

How'd ja like to stay up late like the Islanders do,
Wait for Santa to sail in with your presents in a canoe?
If you ever spend Christmas on Christmas Island,
You will never stray, for ev'ry day your Christmas dreams come true.

Words and Music By Lyle Moraine, copyright 1946

I've been trying to add this to my limited repertoire for a while now without success. I have the lyrics and several recordings but can't find the chords. Can anyone help?

Watching thread with interest...I've wanted to learn this ever since hearing Leon Redbone sing it on his great Christmas album.

That is indeed the one, Nutty, and the link also contains a Midi file so maybe someone out there can "hear" the chords and provide them. I believe Gene Autry and Don Ho have also recorded this.

Leon Redbone, Gene Autry, Jimmy Buffet and probably many others have recorded this and the lyrics are readily available but I can't find the chords anywhere. Can someone help?

thanks in advance

where santa comes to an island
on a boat pulled by sea horses
and there is a litle reggae band
on board!

    Preformat commands
(beginning) and
(end) added to space chords.
Does that make it closer to the way it should appear, Open Mike?

Joybell
You knocked?

I thought this WAS a parody thread and someone had beaten me to it.

Well - OK Try This one recently written by me - a different song used as a base though :-) - a tune more people will know - BTW certain naughty friends have been cheeky enough to forward copies to their friends who actually ARE involved with certain political parties - perhaps I should start my own "When I Disappear" thread? :-)

So Joybell, WHEN are YOU gunnasingit? :-) or bully your friends to... ;-)

Actually, I like the words of the song that started this thread - pity I can't hear the tune - no working sound card... I seem to vaguely remember this song from somewhere...

Oops - sorry, I meant - Rich-Joy

"Me eyes ain't what they used to be - they used to be me ears."

"Joy To the World"...

BTW, am I now expected to be one of the resident
"Mudcat-Loony-Toony-A-Tics" who churn out parodies on command?

Oh! Well, seals perform better if you throw live fish... :-)

Say - Rich-Joy do I know you?
