Let's all hold hands

Look there's a lot of divisive shit around that sets everybody at each others throats, and we all so easily lose sight of what binds us all together here. Why not all see if we can't agree about something?
I propose this: isn't G a great key?

Would that be a Joni Open G? DADGAD? Are you sure we can all agree on this? ;-)

it's home to...

Blackberry Blossom
Temperance Reel
Good Time Charlie's Got The Blues

It (G) can be played either of two ways -- index on A string, middle on E string ..... or you can play it "right" with the ring on the E string, middle on the A string (right Rick?).

C and D for 4 and 5 -- doesn't get any better'n that

and how cool is the change to F.

and modulating to the key of D with a simple stop-over at A.

and the G run.

It's a contenda fu shoo-a.

Gregster:

Wahtever key you wanta play in is fine with me... Can I get us another round of beer first?

Well, I'm here to say Catters that the Gregeste is the finest Cajun guitar teacher that Iz ever met and a fine feller on top of that. Ain't ghalf as purdy as his fiddle player, Kate, but few folks are.

But I do have one *complaint* about the Gregster. The boy is absoluteley lazy. When he was here with us I heard some wrestling in the woods, took my trusty rifle back there, where I found a big ol' scarey bear and shot that scarey bear right between his scarey eyes and well, that danged thing fell dead at my feet.

So I go back to the house and ask the Greg to help me with the bear and all I get is a lot of "Sure, Bobert, you shot the bear" comments but did the Gregster, my drinkin' buddy, help me drag the bear out of the woods? Heck no, he didn't... and now I have a rather smelly dead bear in my woods stinkin' up the joint...

That's my story and Iz gonna stick with until someone helps me get this stinking bear out of the woods....

Bobert

P.S. Say "Hey" to Kate fir me, Gregster....

Threadcreep. Can you hold down a G chord?? Eh?

I like the G chord, but I prefer the G string. My lucky wife likes a g-string, too.

Now, gregster, you shouldna done poor ole Bobert like that. Them dead bears can sure stink up a place. I see you have no comments on the subject. Could this be because you have a guilty conscience? Throw yourself on La Bobert's mercy, he's a forgivin' type of guy!

One of my favorite guitar 'sounds'is a common one: playing in F when you drop into C. I also really like the sound in taking the E chord to D. Real lift there, even though it's lower.

Lately a friend and I are practicing flat picking up the neck- strangely enough, picking in E up there is no harder than picking E in first position. Maybe because in first position you are used to thinking that there are occasional open strings, while up the neck you know there ain't any?

Is the smell unbearable, Bobert?

If everyone could agree on G why would we have Capos? I agree, Greg. We need to try to find our common groung rather than tearing each other apart on our differences. Besides, I play acoustic upright bass(Not very well, yet) and I am so happy to play in G I could just S**t!

Hey, as bad as the bear smells, ain't nuthin smellier than one guy in G and the other in E or A. Don't work that way. I like G myself and play a lot of open G bottleneck when playin' blues. I also like D model, which ya' can't slide but has that eerie mountain sound to it.

Now, Gregster, about the dead bear?

I find it impossible to hold hands and play at the same time. Does anyone else have this problem?

Depends what you're playing with. Not everything worth doing requires only one hand.

Giok--both hands in the key of G. How is this done while hand holding?
