Cathy Lynn Preston's Concordance to the Child Ballads has been renewed, which now uses the PDF format in addition to the Postscript format. This is much more user-friendly.

Yes, it certainly is an improvement. There was something odd about the coding of some of the postscript files which made it impossible to convert them to pdf via Distiller, at any rate, so I'd given up on it.

Thanks for the info; now I can finally use the thing!

Please, some help for the computer-ignorant. In the PDF selection, the Formatted text pdf comes up, but the original text pdf shows only Black sheets (both IE and Netscape). What is needed?

Odd one! I get the messge "Could not find color space named 'Cs6! Usually such messages can be ignored because they refer to some introductory figure or art work. I get the same problem with Internet Explorer.
This is followed by "...file contains information not understood by the viewer. Suppress further errors?" This often happens when the language is difficult. Usually I just say no and go right ahead, without problems. The Acrobat reader just shows black pages. The formatted text, as I said, is fine.
Any suggestions?

hmmm..Opera wanted to download the whole thing before it showed me anything, so I went to Netscape 4.79 and it very politely loaded one page at a time! showed me page one...then loaded page two....and when I asked, it went to the last page...then to page 170 when I changed the # (all this was online...NOT after downloading all 2.7 million bytes)

it all showed up just fine...perhaps your copy of Acrobat has a problem?
Wish I could offer more help, but it just works here...

Thanks, Bill. I have a technician in the neighborhood. I will add this to the little list of questions I have for him.
I didn't add this to my note on the "Common Errors" site, but I will enjoy going through it! Thanks for posting it.

Apparently, this site has been removed from the university Website (although quite recently, so maybe it will come back). I found it at archive.org.
