From: Uncle_DaveO I just got an e-mail from David Kilpatrick, in England, telling me that my new Troubador Cittern Guitar will be shipping tomorrow from England, and I should have it within about 10 days. By "cittern" I mean it has the pear-shaped body, and a short neck. It's set up with nylon strings, per my request. Comes with gig bag. The dealer tells me: "It is a very nice example, with a single piece main neck instead of two halves jointed, and a particularly lovely spruce top - it really shimmers with a complex pattern of reflections if you hold it to the light. "It has been strung with Martin High Tension ball-end nylon strings, which prove to be really good for this instrument - they are 'folk nylon' and stabilize to tuning very quickly, and the high tension means it sounds perfect in standard tuning. "The action is as low as desirable and it plays with very good intonation. In fact I've been stringing up a solid rosewood classical from the same factory, and I hate to say it but the little guitar has better separation and if you play counter-melody parts, you really hear each strand separately. "The total charge is approx $161 at the current exchange rate, £102 pounds sterling on the sales invoice." Whoopee!! You Paltalkers will be hearing me with in in about 11 days or so. From: Uncle_DaveO Well, I don't think I can say I prefer this to the Martin Backpacker, because I haven't had any experience of the Martin Backpacker. As I suspect you haven't had any experience of the Troubadour Cittern Guitar. Dave Oesterreich |
