28 Dec 02 - 09:56 AM (#854499) Subject: RE: Midwinter Hoot in NYC! From: Suffet Refresh. I won't reveal too much about the program, but I will say this. We're going to come out singing a medley of Freedom Songs, we're going to slip in a Greatful Dead tune somewhere, and we're going to wind up with May the Circle Be Unbroken. Everything else will be a surprise, possibly even to me! See y'all on 2/2/03 at 7 PM. Don't forget the place: CB's 313 Gallery. That's at 313 Bowery in New York City, right next door to the famed CBGB's. They're under the same ownership. Think of CB's 313 Gallery as CBGB's Lite. Admission is only $5, and for that you can stay all night and hear the acts that follow us. The place even has reasonably priced drinks. --- Steve |

05 Jan 03 - 12:45 AM (#859007) Subject: RE: Midwinter Hoot in NYC! From: EBarnacle1 Is this supposed to be a round robin or a set performance? If it's a round robin is it open? Que pasa? |
|
05 Jan 03 - 01:21 PM (#859249) Subject: RE: Midwinter Hoot in NYC! From: Suffet It's a round robin in the sense the performers take turns, doing one or two songs at a time, as time permits. However, it is not an open microphone. The act which follows ours is also a round robin. It's a group of six singer-songwriters, organized by Jenni Alpert of Los Angeles. If you come to see the Midwinter Hoot, you can stay to hear them at no additional charge. Once again, it's a set group of performers. If you'd like to participate in one of the future shows I put together, please e-mail me. Click here! Better yet, come to the next session of the Sunnyside Song Circle and get to know me, Joel, Jessica, Eric, and the rest of the gang. Our next session is at Joel Landy's apartment in Sunnyside, Queens (NYC) on Sunday, 2/16/03, from 2 to 7 PM. The address is 41-08 43rd Street, apartment 4F. Call Joel at (718) 937-2240 and let him know you're coming. He can give you directions if necessary. --- Steve Suffet |

06 Jan 03 - 01:59 AM (#859588) Subject: RE: Midwinter Hoot in NYC! From: GUEST Hello everybody this is Eric Levine inviting you to the Midwinter hoot, and thanking Steve Suffet for his tireless energy! I will be singing some important songs that are relevent to the issues of today, in the old tradition and maybe the new one too. I want people to be ready to fight the warmongers and I am going to speak out. May have some new CD's or books if ready. Folks use your energy to fight facism before it gets you, while there is still time. Where are all my old friends, we all must be ready to help each other out in the times to come; WE NEED EACH OTHER, Iraqis and Palestinians are human beings too. WE NEED EACH OTHER Homeless Jobless those are your Brothers and Sisters, we need to be close and be in touch. If one person is thrown in jail everybody needs to protest. love you all- Eric Love you all |

|
14 Jan 03 - 09:11 PM (#867078) Subject: RE: Midwinter Hoot in NYC! From: Suffet Yes, CB's 313 Gallery has shows going to at least to midnight, maybe later. Immediately after the Midwinter Hoot will be Jenni Alpert's Los Angeles singer-songwriters' showcase from 9 to 11 PM. I believe she is presenting six performers, including herself. Jenni is thinking of calling her show Midwinter Hoot Part Two. As far as fitting all eight of us into two hours, believe me it can be done. Maybe we only get to lead three songs each, but we will be backing each other up, both with instrumental accompaniment and vocals. And yes, bring as many of those 10,000 buyers and sellers as you can. But, keep in mind that the capacity of the house is probably less than 200. So just a 2 percent draw would be more than a sell-out. Let me dream on! --- Steve |

I was told there will be lots of sing-along as well. |

27 Jan 03 - 12:59 AM (#875561) Subject: RE: Midwinter Hoot in NYC! From: 2 in harmony I've been to CB's 313 Gallery before. It has just the right ambience for FOLK MUSIC IN THE BIG CITY. Comfortable space for "alternative music" next to CBGB's now sound. |

23 Feb 04 - 09:20 AM (#1121744) Subject: RE: Midwinter Hoot in NYC! From: GUEST,John Hernandez I went a year ago, but this time it conflicts with the Academy Awards. Yes, I know I can get to a tv in time to see Best Picture and the other major awards, but the real fun is watching the celebrities come in. It's a tough choice, but I think I'll tape the Oscars and go to the hoot, especially since I don't get too many chances to hear Anne Price. (I can't figure out why she hasn't made it big yet. She certainly has the talent.) Maybe next year they will pick a better night. |
