24 Jun 98 - 06:30 PM (#31325) Subject: LYR ADD: Haurtxo Tippia (a Basque lullaby) From: judy This is the only Basque song I know. It has a lovely tune but I'd need a transliteration of the words before I'd dare try to sing it. Anyone in your group? Can you post any other Basque songs?
I was in Pamplona for San Fermin in about 1975-6. It was great fun, I especially enjoyed the music and bought a Txistu. My husband and I went to Brittany in 1983 to a festival and heard a large chorus sing accompanied by dancers. They did a few numbers accompanied by seashells which they held one in each hand and clapped together. The group may have been from the Basque region or Andalusia. Does that ring any bells? I love Andalusian music too, do you know if that can be obtained anywhere on the web?
