I don't know if other catters have this problem. Do you "fall in love" with old songs (new to you) everyday? Today it's Mollie O'Days
version of "Teardrops falling in the Snow." Last week it was "IF I Could Only hear my Mother Pray Again" and "I want to go where no one knows me." About a month ago, I "cut" my "everyday song book" back to about 30 "favortes." Now, I'm back up to about 400!!!

Yeah, sometimes. And then there are times when I'm nuts over one song. Then I'm like a three year old who wants to hear the same thing over and over and over. Drives my kids nuts. But then their father still gets facial twitches if he hears the story of the Tawny Scrawny Lion.

I do it all the time, sometimes with songs that I've known half my life- and never before realized how perfect is a certain turn of phrase, or a wonderful chord progression or the pathos of a certain line... For instance, there is a verse in 'A Touch of the Past':

"I can feel all the sadness of the traveler
Who has gone far away from his home
And he knows he can never return there
For the place and the people are gone"

that just gives me shivers.

Wilco......

I certainly do. And it always seems to be the most perfect song for me to sing. That lasts about a month and then we start over, but I sure learn some great stuff.

BTW, I just learned YOUR song (from the Blue Sky Boys).

Thankfully, yeah. Today it's "Doin' My Time". I can't quite manage those killer Johnny Cash bass licks yet, but I'm havin' a ball trying.
